This document describes the Dunelm Bread Maker, model number DUN30735021, a household appliance designed for baking various types of bread and other dough-based products.
Function Description
The Dunelm Bread Maker is a versatile appliance offering 14 different programs to cater to various baking needs:
- Basic: For normal bread, allowing for additional ingredients to enhance flavor.
- French: Produces bread with a crisper crust and lighter texture due to a longer rise time.
- Whole Wheat: Specifically for whole wheat bread, with a longer preheat time to allow grains to soak and expand. Not recommended for use with the delay function.
- Quick: Bakes loaves using baking soda or baking powder, resulting in a smaller loaf with a denser texture.
- Sweet: For baking crisp and sweet bread.
- Ultra Fast-I: Bakes a 2.0LB loaf in the shortest time, producing a smaller and rougher bread compared to the Quick program. Requires hot water (45-50°C).
- Ultra Fast-II: Similar to Ultra Fast-I, but for a 1.5LB loaf. Requires hot water (45-50°C).
- Dough: Kneads and rises dough without baking, suitable for preparing bread rolls, pizza, or steamed bread.
- Gluten Free: For kneading, rising, and baking gluten-free bread, with a longer preheat time. Not recommended for use with the delay function.
- Cake: Kneads, rises, and bakes with soda or baking powder.
- Sandwich: For baking light-texture bread with a thinner crust, suitable for sandwiches.
- Jam: For boiling jams and marmalades. Fruits or vegetables must be chopped before adding to the bread pan.
- Yogurt: Provides low heating only for yogurt making, with a default preset time of 10 hours, adjustable from 6 to 12 hours in 30-minute steps.
- Bake: For baking only, without kneading or rising. Can also be used to extend baking time on other settings.
The bread maker features a control panel with several buttons:
- START/STOP: Initiates or halts the selected baking program. A short beep confirms activation, and the time display flashes. To stop, press and hold for approximately 3 seconds until a beep confirms the program is off.
- MENU: Cycles through the 14 available programs.
- COLOR: Allows selection of crust color: Light, Medium, or Dark.
- LOAF SIZE: Selects the desired loaf size (1.5LB or 2.0LB), which may affect the total operation time.
- TIME + / TIME - (DELAY): Sets a delay time for the appliance to start working. The delay time includes the baking time, ensuring hot bread is ready at the specified time. Adjustable in 10-minute increments, with a maximum delay of 13 hours. Perishable ingredients (eggs, fresh milk, fruits, onions) should not be used with the delay function.
Additional features include:
- Keep Warm: Automatically keeps bread warm for 60 minutes after baking.
- Memory Function: If power supply is interrupted for less than 10 minutes, the bread-making process resumes automatically. If the interruption exceeds 10 minutes, the memory may or may not be kept. If the dough is still in the kneading phase, the program can be restarted manually.

Usage Features
Before First Use:
- Verify all parts and accessories are present and undamaged.
- Clean all parts as per the "Cleaning and Maintenance" section.
- Run the bread maker in baking mode (empty) for about 10 minutes.
- Allow to cool, clean again, and dry all parts thoroughly before assembly.
Making Bread:
- Place the bread pan in position, turning clockwise until it clicks.
- Attach the kneading blade(s) to the drive shafts, turning clockwise until they click. Filling holes with heat-resisting margarine is recommended to prevent dough sticking.
- Add ingredients to the bread pan in the specified order: liquids first, then sugar, salt, flour, and finally yeast or baking powder. For heavy doughs (high rye or wholemeal), reverse the order: dry yeast and flour first, then liquid.
- Create a small indentation in the flour and add yeast, ensuring it doesn't contact liquid or salt.
- Close the lid and plug the power cord into an outlet.
- Select the desired program using the Menu button.
- Choose the crust color with the Color button.
- Select the loaf size (1.5LB or 2.0LB) with the Loaf Size button.
- Optionally, set a delay time using the Time+ or Time- buttons.
- Press START/STOP to begin.
- For specific programs (BASIC, FRENCH, WHOLE WHITE, SWEET, GLUTEN FREE, SANDWICH), a long beep indicates it's time to add additional ingredients. Open the lid, add ingredients, and close. Steam escaping through vents during baking is normal.
- Once baking is complete, 10 beeps will sound. Press START/STOP for 3-5 seconds to stop the process.
- Using oven mitts, grasp the bread pan handle, turn anti-clockwise, and gently pull it straight up and out.
- Use a non-stick spatula to loosen bread from the pan.
- Invert the bread pan onto a clean cooking surface and gently shake until the bread falls out.
- Remove the kneading blade from the loaf using the hook (the loaf will be hot).
- Cool the bread for about 20 minutes before slicing.
Ingredient Guidelines:
- Bread Flour: High gluten content, good elasticity, prevents sunken bread, and creates better inner fiber.
- Plain Flour: For express bread or cakes.
- Whole Wheat Flour: Contains wheat skin and gluten, heavier and more nutrient. Often combined with bread flour for best results.
- Black Wheat Flour (Rough Flour): High fiber flour, similar to whole wheat. Requires high proportion of bread flour for large size after rising.
- Cake Powder: For cakes, made from soft or low-protein wheat.
- Corn Flour & Oatmeal Flour: Additive ingredients for rough bread, enhancing flavor and texture.
- Sugar: Adds sweetness and color, nourishes yeast. White sugar is commonly used.
- Yeast: Essential for dough rising. Store in refrigerator. Check freshness by mixing with warm water and sugar; if it froths, it's active.
- 1 tsp. active dry yeast = 3/4 tsp. instant yeast
- 1.5 tsp. active dry yeast = 1 tsp. instant yeast
- 2 tsp. active dry yeast = 1.5 tsp. instant yeast
- Salt: Improves flavor and crust color, but restrains yeast. Do not use too much.
- Egg: Improves texture, adds nourishment, size, and flavor. Must be peeled and stirred evenly.
- Grease (Butter/Vegetable Oil): Makes bread soft and delays storage life. Butter should be melted or chopped.
- Baking Powder/Soda: Used for Ultra Fast bread and cakes, produces gas for texture without rise time.
- Water/Liquid: Essential. Optimal temperature 20-25°C. For Ultra Fast bread, 45-50°C. Can be replaced by fresh milk or milk powder solution to enhance flavor and crust color. Juices can also be used.
Ingredient Weight:
- Use measuring cups and spoons for accurate amounts.
- Measure liquids horizontally at eye level.
- Clean measuring cups thoroughly between different ingredients.
- Measure dry powder in natural, loose conditions, leveling the cup mouth gently.
Ingredient Sequence:
- Liquid ingredients
- Eggs, salt, milk powder, etc.
- Flour (ensure it's not completely wet by liquid)
- Yeast (on dry flour, not touching salt)
- Fruit ingredients (added after kneading phase, prompted by a beep)
Warning Displays:
- HHH: Internal temperature is too high. Stop the program, open the lid, and let cool for 10-20 minutes.
- Err: Temperature sensor is disconnected. Contact authorized service.
- LLL: Internal temperature is too low (except for BAKE program). Stop the program, open the lid, and let cool for 10-20 minutes to return to room temperature, or select BAKE to increase temperature rapidly.
Maintenance Features
Cleaning and Maintenance:
- Disconnect from power and allow to cool before cleaning.
- Bread Pan: Wipe inside and outside with a damp cloth. Do not use sharp or abrasive agents to protect the non-stick coating. Dry completely before re-installing.
