OVERVIEW
The GS300Mc is a 230V three channel and sensor wall or panel
mounted gas detection controller. It can be connected to toxic and
explosive sensors. A colour change digital display indicates sensor
status and faults.
If the remote sensor senses the presence of gas, it sends a
proportional 4-20mA signal back to the GS300Mc. When the rst
alarm level is reached the pre-alarm relay is activated (See Alarm
Settings). If the level continues to rise the main alarm relay will be
energised.
For explosive or toxic gases, the electrical supply to the safety shut
o󰀨 valve is broken when the main alarm threshold is reached. A
general alarm is sounded.
Should the controller enter fault condition the safety shut o󰀨 valve
closes to fail safe. A self-diagnostic feature looks for return sensor
voltage and ensures correct functionality.
The GS300Mc controller is compatible with all the Duomo
conventional sensors.

Do you have a question about the Duomo GS300Mc and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The GS300Mc Gas Detection Controller is a microprocessor-based, wall or panel-mounted, three-channel gas detection control unit designed to provide safety in environments where gas leaks or toxic gas build-up could occur. It is compatible with all Duomo conventional sensors and offers a secure test facility that allows sensors to be fully tested with test gas without disconnecting the electrical supply to gas valves. The controller can be configured to meet specific customer requirements via on-board DIP switches.

Function Description:

The GS300Mc monitors up to three remote sensors, which send a proportional 4-20mA signal back to the controller if gas is detected. It features three alarm stages: two pre-alarms and a main alarm. When the first alarm level is reached, a pre-alarm relay is activated. If gas levels continue to rise, the main alarm relay is energized. For explosive or toxic gases, reaching the main alarm threshold triggers the breaking of the electrical supply to the safety shut-off valve and sounds a general alarm. The device also includes a fault relay that breaks the connection in case of system failure, providing a prompt indication even during mains power failure due to its de-energized trigger technology. A self-diagnostic feature continuously monitors the return sensor voltage to ensure correct functionality. If the controller enters a fault condition, the safety shut-off valve closes to a fail-safe position.

Usage Features:

The GS300Mc offers comprehensive features for gas detection and safety. It provides three-channel protection and is powered by a 230VAC supply. The digital display with a colour change feature clearly indicates sensor status and faults, including normal operation (green backlight), warm-up phase (countdown timer), alarm conditions (red backlight for toxic or explosive gas, showing ppm or LEL values), and fault conditions (yellow backlight with "FAU" for short circuit, sensor fault, signal loss, or incorrect connection). An emergency stop condition is indicated by a red backlight with "btn".

The controller includes emergency stop connections and a timed sensor test facility. Users can select between toxic (0-300ppm) or explosive (0-20%LEL) gas detection, or oxygen (O₂) detection (0-25%). It supports 4-20mA signal sensor input and features three alarm stages: 1st and 2nd pre-alarm, and a main alarm. The IP44 protective rating ensures durability in various environments. The device is CE certified and approved to relevant EN standards.

The front panel includes two overload lights that indicate a short circuit or overload on the sensor wiring. Plug-in terminal blocks simplify wiring for incoming mains supply, alarm circuits, and sensor connections, reducing the chance of incorrect site wiring.

Maintenance Features:

The GS300Mc is designed for ease of maintenance and reliability. It is strongly recommended that the system be commissioned and serviced by Duomo Commissioning Engineers or approved engineers. This ensures proper setup and adherence to professional standards. Duomo offers on-board spares during commissioning to ensure successful installation and provides a commissioning certificate.

The detector must be function checked using calibrated test gas every 6 months. Duomo provides services for conducting this work or arranging a service contract.

Troubleshooting:

The manual provides a comprehensive troubleshooting guide for common issues:

  • No lights on fascia: Check electrical supply and terminal rail connection.
  • Sensor fault lights illuminated: Check sensor wiring, 12V DC presence at the sensor, and use the TEST button to check device efficiency.
  • Sensor fault continues to alarm: Check sensor wiring; if the red Overload LED is illuminated, there's a short circuit or overload.
  • Repeated alarms: Ensure no occasional gas leaks from valves or joints.
  • Main alarm condition, gas valve not closing: Check connections, valve position, and main alarm action configuration (latching alarm via DIP switch 2 on 5th DIP switch).
  • No supply to solenoid valve: Main Alarm relay is a volt-free contact; connect live supply to terminal 10, and supply will come from terminal 12 to the solenoid valve.
  • Sensor connected, but no LED lit on fascia: Check DIP switch setting for that sensor (Switch 1 on one of the first three DIP switches).

For persistent difficulties, users are advised to contact Duomo (UK) Ltd technical support. It is crucial to always check wiring before powering up the system to prevent damage and ensure correct function. The installation of this gas detector does not release the user from observing all regulations concerning gas appliances, ventilation, and combustion product removal. Duomo is not responsible for damage caused by incorrect connection, installation, or application.
