Overview

This document describes the TRI-CLEAN ultrasonic cleaner, a device designed for effective instrument cleaning.

Function Description:

The TRI-CLEAN ultrasonic cleaner is used to clean instruments by generating ultrasonic waves in a cleaning solution. The process involves filling the unit with solution, degasing it to improve cleaning effectiveness, adding enzymatic cleaning solution, and then running a cleaning cycle. The ultrasonic action helps remove microscopic bubbles and debris from instruments. The unit can also heat the cleaning solution to a desired temperature (110°F) to further enhance cleaning.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Cleaning Solution: Requires enzymatic cleaning solution (Tri-Clean triple enzymatic cleaner = 1 oz. per gal.).
  • Heat Function: Adjustable temperature up to 110°F.
  • Filter: Replaceable filter (Part # "FIL1" or "FIL2") every 3 to 6 months.
  • Drainage: Features a drain valve for emptying the tank. Recessed models require power to activate the drain valve.

Usage Features:

  • Filling: Fill the unit to the max fill line.
  • Degassing: Before daily use, run the unit for 15 minutes with water to degas, minimizing microscopic bubbles and improving cleaning effectiveness.
  • Heating: Adjust temperature using "Temp" arrows and press "Heating" button. Actual temperature displays once heating starts and may take up to 30 minutes to reach the desired temperature.
  • Solution Addition: After degassing, add the correct amount of enzymatic cleaning solution.
  • Loading: Place items to be cleaned in the provided basket and lower into the solution. Do not place items directly in the tank.
  • Cycle Initiation: Set desired time using "Time" arrows and press "Ultrasonic" to start the cleaning cycle.
  • Cycle Termination: The cycle can be terminated early by pressing the "Ultrasonic" button. Do not use the "Power" switch to stop a cycle.
  • Power Off: Turn off the unit using the green illuminated "Power" switch. For recessed models, the power switch is not illuminated and is located on the side of the control panel.
  • Draining: Open the drain valve on the side of the unit to empty the tank.
  • Safety: Exercise extreme caution when using heat, as the solution can become hot. Avoid placing hands in the hot solution or spilling it.
  • Instrument Preparation: Pre-rinse instruments to remove larger bio-burden particles before placing them in the ultrasonic cleaner.
  • Small Items: Use a Burr Basket (part # “BB1”) for small items like burrs.
  • Solution Level: Operate the ultrasonic unit with liquid at the Max Fill line level.

Maintenance Features:

  • Solution Change: Change ultrasonic solution daily or when visibly soiled, whichever comes first.
  • Tank Rinsing: Rinse the tank thoroughly and wipe down with a soft cloth at the end of each workday.
  • Drain Tube Flush: Daily, flush the drain tube with hot water to ensure smooth draining cycles.
  • Tank Cleaning: Clean the inside of the tank with mild detergent once a week. Ensure thorough rinsing to prevent detergent transfer to the cleaning cycle.
  • Filter Replacement: Replace the filter every 3 to 6 months or at the first signs of damage or wear. Specify model number and serial number when ordering.
  • Tank Flushing: Flush the tank with warm water after draining.
  • Tank Cleaning (Film): If a film is present on tank walls, clean with a non-acetone or non-phenol based cleaner.
  • Foil Test: Perform a foil test periodically. Contact BrandMax for testing details.
  • Recommended Maintenance: Perform all recommended maintenance to ensure proper performance and longevity.
  • Avoidances (Void Warranty):
    • Do not remove the filter except during recommended maintenance.
    • Do not pick up the unit and drain; the unit must remain stable at all times.
    • Do not put any items directly in the tank; all items must be placed inside the basket.
    • Do not use enzyme tablets, as they can damage the solenoid on recessed units and void the warranty. Liquid enzymatic cleaner is recommended.

The manual also provides a link to www.bit.ly/cleaninstrument for basic tips on effective instrument cleaning and advises contacting the instrument manufacturer to confirm cleaning guidelines. It emphasizes observing universal precautions when there might be potential exposure to infectious bio-burden.
