NONEL
EZTL
Description
NONEL nonelectric delay detonator EZTL units consist of a length of yellow shock
tube, with a surface detonator (low strength) attached to one end and the other
end sealed. The detonator is housed in a plastic EZ Connector block which
facilitates easy connection to shock tube. An easy to read colour-coded J-hook is
affixed near the sealed end. The J-Hook also displays the nominal firing time
prominently.
EZTL detonators are designed for use with NONEL MS / NONEL MS HD units to
provide effective and accurate surface timing between blast holes and/or rows of
blast holes in surface and underground blasting designs and can reliably initiate up
to six shock tube leads clipped into the EZ connector block. The block design
makes surface tie-in simple.

Overview

The NONEL® EZTL™ is a nonelectric delay detonator unit designed for use in surface and underground blasting operations. It provides effective and accurate surface timing between blast holes and/or rows of blast holes.

Function Description

Each EZTL unit consists of a length of yellow shock tube with a low-strength surface detonator attached to one end, and the other end sealed. The detonator is housed within a plastic EZ Connector block, which simplifies the connection of shock tubes. A color-coded J-hook, displaying the nominal firing time, is affixed near the sealed end. The EZTL detonators are designed to reliably initiate up to six shock tube leads when clipped into the EZ connector block, and the block design facilitates simple surface tie-in.

Usage Features

  • Compatibility: Designed for use with NONEL MS / NONEL MS HD units.
  • Shock Tube Connection:
    • Always insert shock tubes securely, one at a time, into the plastic EZ connector. The connector block head should rise to accept the tube and return to a closed position with an audible click.
    • Ensure individual shock tubes remain aligned side by side in the EZ connector channel and do not cross over.
    • The EZ connector block can reliably initiate up to six shock tube leads. Never place more than six shock tube leads into an EZ connector block, as misfires may result.
    • When connecting tubes, form each tube into a loop and pull it firmly into the NONEL EZ connector block until an audible 'click' is heard, indicating correct insertion.
    • Insert tubes one at a time to avoid crossovers.
    • After inserting all tubes, slide the block along the tubes to ensure full engagement and removal of any crossovers.
    • DO NOT double wrap tubes into the block.
    • Ensure all tubes leave the block correctly and do not loop back near the block. Keep tubes neat between holes, taut but not tight.
  • Disconnection of NONEL Tubes from EZ Block:
    • Hold the tube to be disconnected firmly at one side of the block.
    • Fold the tube back into the beak area towards the opposite side of the block.
    • Use your thumb to gently push back the beak.
    • Gently pull the tube under the beak and out of the block.
    • If multiple tubes are connected, remove them one by one until the desired tube is disconnected.
    • Avoid excessive force to prevent damage to tubes or the retaining mechanism. Reconnect all other tubes using the same steps.
  • Safety Precautions:
    • NEVER use NONEL EZTL detonators with detonating cord, as the low-strength surface detonator will not initiate it.
    • ALWAYS protect the plastic EZ connector and all shock tube leads from impact or damage. The EZ connector contains a detonator and is subject to detonation from abuse. Cut, ruptured, or damaged shock tubes may cause misfires.
    • NEVER attempt to disassemble the delay detonator from the EZ connector block or use the detonator without the connector.
    • NEVER tie-in NONEL EZTL units until all holes have been primed, loaded, stemmed, and the blast site has been cleared.
    • NEVER connect NONEL EZTL units with other manufacturers' products, as incompatibility may lead to misfires.
    • All explosives are classified as dangerous goods and can cause personal injury and property damage if used incorrectly.
    • Refer to www.dynonobel.com for detailed first aid information on the relevant Dyno Nobel Safety Data Sheet.

Maintenance Features

  • Storage:
    • For maximum shelf life (3 years), NONEL EZTL must be stored in a cool, dry, well-ventilated magazine.
    • Explosive inventory should be rotated. Always use older materials before new ones.
    • Regular rotation helps maintain accuracy, as delay detonators may deteriorate with age.
    • All explosives must be handled, transported, and stored in accordance with relevant regulations.
