Overview

This document describes the H3CT-5U V2.0 Preset Production Counter, an Up Counter with a hold mode designed for industrial applications. It is manufactured by Electronic Automation Private Limited (EAPL).

Function Description

The H3CT-5U V2.0 operates as an Up Counter. Upon applying rated voltage to the source terminals and connecting a sensor input, the display initializes to "00000" and begins counting input pulses. When the process value reaches a pre-set value, the 1 C/O relay contacts change over (NO) and remain in this state until the power is interrupted or a reset signal is applied.

The device features two operational modes:

  • HOLD MODE: In this mode, counting continues from the last recorded count after the resumption of interrupted power.
  • RESTART MODE: In this mode, counting restarts from the beginning (00000) after the resumption of interrupted power.

Important Technical Specifications

Power and Electrical:

  • Rated Supply Voltage: 85V to 270V AC/DC.
  • Rated Frequency: 50/60Hz ± 5% for AC only.
  • Power Consumption: Approximately 8VA (AC) and 5W (DC).
  • Control Output: RLY 1 - 1 C/O.
    • Rated for 5A @ 250 VAC / 30VDC (NO).
    • Rated for 3A @ 250VAC / 30VDC (NC).
  • Insulation Resistance: >100M ohm @ 500V DC.
  • Dielectric Strength:
    • 2.5KV AC, 50Hz for 1 minute (between current carrying & non-current carrying parts).
    • 1.5KV AC, 50Hz for 1 minute (between contacts & control circuit).
    • 750V AC, 50Hz for 1 minute (between non-continuous relay contacts).
  • Electrical Connection: Screw type terminals with self-lifting clamps.

Counting and Display:

  • Display: 5-digit 7-segment LED, 0.30" height.
  • Count Speed: 100Hz maximum (minimum input pulse width 5msec).
  • Range: 0 to 99,999 counts.

  • Humidity: Maximum 95% RH @ 40°C.
  • Dimensions: 48 x 48 x 95.5mm (W x H x D).
  • Sensor Type: Compatible with Proximity NPN / PNP and Limit Switch.

Durability:

  • Service Life (under no load): 10^6 operations minimum.
  • Electrical Life (under full load): 10^5 operations minimum.

Usage Features

Installation and Wiring: The device features screw-type terminals for electrical connections. It supports both NPN and PNP proximity sensors, as well as limit switches. Users must select the appropriate sensor type (PNP or NPN/Limit Switch) before powering on the device by shorting terminals 8 and 9 for NPN/Limit Switch or leaving them open for PNP. Limit switches should be connected between terminals 7 and 8.

Programming: The programming sequence involves using "SELECT" and "ADVANCE" buttons on the front panel.

  1. Setting the Count Value: Press "SELECT" once to enter set mode. The display will show "SET" for 2 seconds, then the previous set value with the Most Significant Digit (MSD) flashing. Use "ADVANCE" to change the flashing digit. Press "SELECT" again to move to the next digit. Repeat this process for all 5 digits.
  2. Saving the Count Value: After setting the last digit, press "SELECT" again. The set value is saved, and the display shows "SEnS" for 2 seconds, followed by the previous sensitivity value.
  3. Setting Sensitivity: Use "ADVANCE" to adjust the sensitivity value (e.g., to 100).
  4. Exiting Programming: Press "SELECT" again. The display will show "00000", indicating the counter is ready for operation.

Reset and Hold Functions:

  • RESET: Shorting terminals 12 and 10 for at least 250ms will reset the counter.
  • HOLD: Shorting terminals 11 and 10 will activate the hold function. Opening these terminals will revert to RESTART mode.

Safety Precautions:

  • DANGER: HAZARD OF ELECTRIC SHOCK, EXPLOSION OR ARC FLASH.
  • Always use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow safety work practices.
  • Only qualified electrical workers should install this equipment after reading the entire set of instructions.
  • If the equipment is not used as specified by the manufacturer, its protection may be impaired.
  • Never work alone.
  • Proper handling, installation, and operation are crucial for successful operation.
  • Never bypass external fusing.
  • Installation must include a disconnecting device (switch or circuit breaker) with clear ON/OFF markings, accessible to the operator, to turn off the auxiliary supply.
  • EAPL is not responsible for consequential damages arising from product use.

Maintenance Features

Relay Output: Although the standard relay output rating is 5A, it is recommended to use a rated contactor to switch ON/OFF the load. This practice ensures the longevity and health of the equipment, especially in case of short circuits on the power output lines.

Disposition: Once the product's life cycle is complete, users are encouraged to return the unit to EAPL for proper disposition.

Customer Support: For any inquiries or support, customers can contact Electronic Automation Private Limited at the provided phone numbers or email address.
