Overview

This document is a user manual for the FEBO FLAME electric fireplace insert, model 15IN-23-100, item #F15-1-005-009. It provides essential information for installation, operation, and maintenance of the appliance.

Function Description:

The FEBO FLAME electric fireplace insert is designed to provide simulated flame effects and heating for indoor spaces. It operates on 120 Volts and requires a 15 AMP circuit. The unit features adjustable flame brightness and multiple heat settings, allowing users to customize the ambiance and warmth. A timer function is included for automatic shut-off, and a child lock feature ensures safety by disabling other controls. The fireplace is controlled via a button panel on the unit and a multifunction remote control.

Important Safety Instructions:

The manual emphasizes several critical safety precautions. Users are warned against operating the appliance for any purpose other than its intended use, as this could lead to fire, burns, electric shock, or serious injury. It is crucial to read all instructions before use. The appliance becomes hot during operation, so bare skin should not touch hot surfaces. Combustible materials like furniture, pillows, bedding, papers, clothes, and curtains must be kept at least 3 feet (0.9 meters) away from the front, sides, and rear of the appliance. Extreme caution is necessary when children or invalids are nearby, and the appliance should never be left operating unattended. The unit must always be unplugged when not in use and should only be operated under supervision.

Operating the appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after it malfunctions, has been dropped, or damaged, is prohibited. In such cases, the appliance should be returned to an authorized service facility for examination, adjustment, or repair. The fireplace is not suitable for outdoor use or in bathrooms, laundry areas, or similar indoor locations where it could fall into water. The power cord should not be run under carpeting or covered by throw rugs, runners, or similar floor coverings; it must be arranged away from traffic areas to prevent tripping hazards. To disconnect, all controls should be turned "OFF," and the plug removed from the electrical outlet. The appliance must be connected only to properly grounded outlets. Foreign objects should not be inserted into ventilation or exhaust openings to prevent electric shock, fire, or damage. To prevent fire, air intakes or exhausts must not be blocked, especially on soft surfaces like beds. The appliance contains hot and arcing or sparking parts, so it should not be used in areas where gasoline, paint, or flammable liquids are stored.

The manual strongly recommends dedicating an entire 15 amp outlet for the electric fireplace to avoid overload and potential damage to the outlet and other electronic items. Extension cords are generally discouraged due to the risk of overheating and fire. However, if an extension cord is absolutely necessary, it must be a minimum of 14AWG, rated not less than 1875 Watts, and be a 3-prong cord with a grounding-type plug, not exceeding 20 feet (6 meters) in length. During transport or storage, the unit and power cord/plug must be kept dry, free from excessive vibration, and away from heat sources. Burning wood or other materials in the appliance is strictly forbidden. When installed, the appliance must be electrically grounded according to current regulations.

When any button (except POWER) on the control panel or remote is pressed, the digital display on the wooden log turns on. It first shows the room temperature, then displays the previous functions. Without further operation, the display automatically turns off after 15 seconds. After the electric insert is turned off, it takes 4 seconds for it to resume all functions upon the next turn on.

Remote Control:

The remote control has the same functions as the control panel, except it cannot switch the temperature display between Fahrenheit and Celsius using the heater button. The child lock function on the remote activates or deactivates immediately. The remote comes with a preassembled battery, but a plastic film must be removed before use.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning:
    1. Use a clean, dry cloth to clean the fireplace.
    2. For fingerprints or marks on the glass window, use a clean, damp cloth. Do not spray glass cleaner or other liquids directly onto the window.
    3. Clean metal surfaces with a clean, damp cloth, ensuring no dust or debris enters air intake or exhaust vents.
    4. Do not use abrasive cleaners or spray liquids on any part of the appliance.
    5. Periodic cleaning/vacuuming of the fan/heater unit is recommended to prevent dirt or foreign object buildup.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual includes a troubleshooting guide for common issues like dim flame effects, the appliance turning off, or the remote control not working. It provides possible causes and solutions, such as adjusting the dimmer, checking the "Flame wand," resetting the overheat protection device or circuit breaker, and replacing remote control batteries.
