Overview

The Eco One device is a user-friendly system designed for generating electrolyzed water for cleaning, sanitation, and degreasing purposes. It primarily produces hypochlorous acid (HOCl) solutions for sanitation and potassium hydroxide (KOH) solutions for cleaning and degreasing.

Function Description:

The Eco One utilizes electrolysis to transform tap water and specific additives into powerful cleaning and sanitizing agents. For sanitation, it generates hypochlorous acid (HOCl), a free chlorine molecule known for its effectiveness in killing bacteria and viruses. For cleaning and degreasing, it produces potassium hydroxide (KOH). The device offers different settings to control the concentration of the generated solutions, making it versatile for various cleaning needs.

Important Technical Specifications:

For Hypochlorous Acid (HOCl) Generation (Cleaning & Sanitation):

  • ORP (Oxidation-Reduction Potential): Between +800 and +1000 (achieved on Setting 3).
  • Additives: Tap water (or purified water), kosher salt (NaCl), and optionally distilled white vinegar (5%).
  • Salt Requirement: 2 grams of kosher salt (food grade, pure, natural, without iodine recommended).
  • Vinegar Requirement: 1 tsp. of distilled white vinegar (5%) (optional, but recommended to optimize pH for HOCl dominance).
  • Concentration Settings (at 1 Liter fill):
    • Setting 1: Runs for 3 minutes, generates 40 ppm HOCl.
    • Setting 2: Runs for 5 minutes, generates 60 ppm HOCl.
    • Setting 3: Runs for 8 minutes, generates 100 ppm HOCl. Running two cycles (16 minutes total) on Setting 3 generates 200 ppm HOCl.
  • HOCl Properties:
    • Molecular formula: HOCl.
    • Can be measured with chlorine test paper.
    • Most dominant in a chlorine solution between pH 4 and 6.

For Potassium Hydroxide (KOH) Generation (Cleaning & Degreasing):

  • ORP (Oxidation-Reduction Potential): Between -100 and -300.
  • Additives: Tap water (or purified water) and potassium carbonate.
  • Potassium Carbonate Requirement: 2 grams of potassium carbonate (only the specified additive should be used).
  • Generation Time: Setting 3 runs for 8 minutes to generate KOH.

General Device Specifications:

  • Capacity: 1 Liter mark indicated inside the pitcher.
  • Power Supply: Detachable power unit provided with the appliance.
  • Safety: Designed to be supplied from a separate extra-low voltage (SELV) power source to minimize electrical shock risk.

Usage Features:

Generating Hypochlorous Acid (HOCl):

  1. Fill the pitcher with tap water (or purified water) up to the 1 Liter mark.
  2. Add 2 grams of kosher salt using the provided one-gram spoon (two scoops).
  3. Optionally, add 1 tsp. of distilled white vinegar (5%) to optimize pH.
  4. Replace the lid and ensure the power supply connector is dry before connecting the power supply.
  5. Press the Power On/Off button:
    • Press once for Setting 1 (3 minutes, 40 ppm).
    • Press twice for Setting 2 (5 minutes, 60 ppm).
    • Press three times for Setting 3 (8 minutes, 100 ppm; two cycles for 200 ppm).

Generating Potassium Hydroxide (KOH):

  1. Fill the pitcher with tap water (or purified water) up to the 1 Liter mark.
  2. Add 2 grams of potassium carbonate (only the specified additive).
  3. Replace the lid and ensure the power supply connector is dry before connecting the power supply.
  4. Press the Power On/Off button three times to select Setting 3. The device will run for 8 minutes to generate KOH.

Measuring HOCl Concentration:

  • Use chlorine test paper, which provides a simple and reliable method.
  • Color matches at 10, 50, 100, and 200 parts per million (ppm) allow for measuring concentrations between 10 and 200 ppm.

Safety Precautions during Use:

  • Do not immerse the appliance base or power supply unit in water or other liquid.
  • Do not clean the device in a dishwasher.
  • Use only the detachable power unit provided.
  • Do not operate the appliance with a damaged cord or plug.
  • Store additives in a clean and dry location.
  • Use only normal tap water or purified water.
  • If the unit becomes damaged or leaks, immediately disconnect it from the power supply.
  • The appliance is not intended for use by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities or lack of experience/knowledge, unless supervised or instructed.
  • Should not be used by children, and care should be taken when used near children.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning the Unit: Turn the appliance off before cleaning. Rinse the unit only with tap water.
  • After Use: Empty the pitcher and rinse it with tap water after each use.
  • Power Supply Connector: Ensure the power supply connector is dry before connecting.
