Overview

This document is an installation manual and operating instructions for Enviroair Ductless Split Systems, covering both single and multi-zone configurations.

Function Description

The Enviroair Ductless Split Systems are air conditioning units designed for both single and multi-zone applications, offering cooling-only and cooling-and-heating functionalities. These systems consist of indoor units (air handlers) and outdoor units (condensers) that work together to regulate room temperature and humidity. The indoor units feature an air intake (front, top), an air outlet, and directional control plates for airflow. The outdoor units include an air intake (left side, rear) and an air outlet.

Single Zone Systems:

  • Cooling Only: Models ACW-09D-B, ACW-12D-B, ACW-18D-B, ACW-24D-B (indoor units) paired with CCW-09D-B, CCW-12D-B, CCW-18D-B, CCW-24D-B (outdoor units).
  • Cooling and Heating: Models AHW-12D-B, AHW-18D-B, AHW-24D-B (indoor units) paired with CHW-12D-B, CHW-18D-B, CHW-24D-B (outdoor units).

Multi-Zone Systems:

  • Cooling Only: Models ACM-09D-B, ACM-12D-B (indoor units) paired with CCM-09D-B, CCM-12D-B (outdoor units).
  • Cooling and Heating: Models AHM-09D-B, AHM-12D-B (indoor units) paired with CHM-09D-B, CHM-12D-B (outdoor units).

The systems are controlled via a remote control, which allows users to select various operating modes, adjust temperature, set timers, and control fan speed and airflow direction. A hand switch lever on the indoor unit provides an alternative control method for emergency operation or when the remote control is unavailable.

Usage Features

Operating Modes:

  • Auto Operation: The system automatically selects the appropriate mode (Cool, Dry, Heat, Circulate) and fan speed based on room temperature and humidity to maintain comfort.
  • Dry Mode: Removes humidity from the room without significantly dropping the temperature. Recommended for humid weather. Operation stops if room temperature is below 59°F.
  • Manual Operation: Allows users to manually select Heat, Dry, Cool, or Circulate modes and adjust the set temperature.
  • Sleep Mode: Maintains desired room temperature quietly at a lower fan speed. Automatically adjusts temperature (e.g., 3°C/6°F down an hour after for heat, 1°C/2°F up an hour after for cool/dry). Flaps move up or down automatically.
  • 1HR Timer Mode: Convenient for short-term operation before sleeping or leaving. Sets a one-hour timer.
  • Timer Mode (ON, OFF): Allows scheduling of ON and OFF times for the air conditioner. Time can be adjusted in hour or 10-minute intervals.
  • High Power Mode: Provides rapid heating or cooling for 15 minutes by operating at a higher fan speed. Fan speed rhythmically changes between high and ultra-high.
  • Circulation Mode: Circulates room air to reduce temperature stratification. Users can select AUTO, HIGH, MED, or LOW fan speed.

Airflow Control:

  • Up/Down Air Flow Direction: Controlled by the remote control using the Flap button.
  • Left/Right Airflow Direction: Adjusted manually using the right/left airflow control plate on the indoor unit.
  • Fan Speed: Adjustable to AUTO, HIGH, MED, or LOW using the FAN SPEED button on the remote control.

Special Features:

  • Deodorizing Function: In DRY and COOL modes, the fan or indoor unit(s) will not turn ON for 40 seconds after starting operation to deodorize smells from inside the indoor unit.
  • Melody Buzzer: A melody sounds from the indoor unit(s) to confirm ON/OFF selection and function changes.
  • Remote Control: Features a display window, low battery indicator, ON/OFF button, temperature setting buttons, high power button, one-hour timer button, ON-Timer/OFF-Timer selector buttons, ACL button, timer setting/temperature setting, operation mode selector button, airflow direction button, up/down airflow direction control, fan speed button, sleep operation button, timer cancellation button, time set button, and Celsius (°C)/Fahrenheit (°F) selector switch.

Maintenance Features

Routine Maintenance:

  • Safety First: Always stop operation and disconnect power before any checks or cleaning. Do not wet the air conditioner(s). Avoid using benzene, thinner, cleaning powder, or water hotter than 40°C (104°F). Do not touch the evaporator coil. Never operate without air filters.
  • Cleaning Air Filters (Every Two Weeks): Remove dust from air filters using a vacuum cleaner. If heavily soiled, use a neutral cleaning agent, rinse thoroughly, and dry in the shade.
    • How to remove air filters: Pull the front grille by grasping recesses on the ends, open it until it stops with a click, raise the air filter, disengage claws, and remove.
    • How to replace air filters: Place filters with "Front" marking facing you, push to close the front grille, and secure by pressing evenly along the lower edge.
  • Cleaning Indoor Unit(s) & Remote Control(s): Use a dry cloth.

Before the Season:

  • Check that air inlet and outlet of indoor and outdoor units are not blocked.
  • Verify ground wire connection and absence of wire breaks.
  • Check installation bracket for corrosion or rust.
  • Ensure air filters are clean and in place.

After the Season:

  • Operate on "CIRCULATION" mode for several hours on a dry day to prevent mold development.
  • Disconnect the power source.
  • Remove batteries from the remote control.
  • Clean and replace air filters.

Trouble Check by Self-Test Mode:

  • If an abnormality occurs, the system automatically stops and enters "Self-Diagnosis Function."
  • If the operating light blinks, set the switch lever(s) on the indoor unit(s) to OFF (O)-position.
  • 9/12 Btuh:
    • Blinking Green LED: Defect of room temperature sensor.
    • Blinking Orange LED: Defect of indoor heat exchanger sensor.
  • 18/24 Btuh:
    • Blinking Green LED: Defect of room temperature sensor.
    • Blinking Red LED: Defect of indoor heat exchanger sensor.
    • Blinking Green LED: Defect of compressor protection circuit (Cooling only Model).
  • Self-diagnosis clears when the system returns to normal operation.

Drainage:

  • Ensure drain hose slopes downward to the outdoor side, is not kinked, and its end is not submerged in water. Do not tilt upward.
  • For outdoor units (Heat Pump Only), condensation drains from outlets on the base. A drain socket can be connected with a 5/8" hose, covering other outlets with base caps. Ensure the unit is on a flat, level surface. In cold areas, do not use drain outlet caps to prevent freezing.
