Overview

This document is a user manual for an EDER dishwasher, specifically models ELVFS13W-11 and ELVFS13S-11. It provides comprehensive information on the appliance's function, technical specifications, usage, and maintenance.

The dishwasher is designed for household use, capable of washing up to 13 place settings. It features an upper and lower basket for loading dishes, a cutlery basket, and a dispenser for detergent and rinse aid. The appliance is equipped with a water softener system that requires regular salt replenishment to prevent limescale buildup, which can negatively affect washing performance and potentially damage the appliance.

Function Description:

The EDER dishwasher is an automatic dishwashing appliance designed to clean and dry dishes, cutlery, and cookware. It operates through various wash cycles, each tailored to different levels of soiling and types of tableware. Key functions include:

  • Washing Cycles: Multiple programs (Intensive, Universal, ECO, 90 minutes, Glass, Rapid) are available, offering different temperature settings, durations, and water consumption levels. The ECO program is highlighted as the most efficient in terms of combined energy and water consumption for normally soiled tableware.
  • Water Softener: An integrated water softener system removes minerals and salts from the water, preventing deposits on dishes and utensils. This system requires specific dishwasher salt, and its consumption can be adjusted based on local water hardness.
  • Detergent and Rinse Aid Dispensing: The dishwasher automatically dispenses detergent for the main wash and, for heavily soiled loads, a pre-wash. Rinse aid is dispensed during the final rinse to prevent water spots and streaks and to improve drying performance.
  • Delay Start: Users can set a delayed start time for the wash cycle (2h, 4h, 6h, or 8h).
  • Half-load Function: For smaller loads (6 place settings or less), a half-load option is available to save energy and water, compatible with Intensive, Universal, ECO, and 90-minute programs.
  • Child Lock: This feature locks the control panel buttons (except the Power button) to prevent accidental operation by children.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Capacity: 13 place settings (according to EN 60436).
  • Dimensions (H x W x D): 845 mm x 598 mm x 600 mm (with door closed). When the door is opened to 90°, the depth extends to 1175 mm.
  • Water Pressure: Maximum permissible inlet water pressure is 1 MPa, and the minimum is 0.04 MPa.
  • Electrical Requirements: The appliance requires a dedicated electrical circuit with a 10A/13A/16A fuse or circuit breaker. The voltage and frequency must match those specified on the rating plate. Proper earthing is essential.
  • Water Connection: Connects to a cold water supply hose with a threaded 3/4-inch connector.
  • Drain Hose: Minimum diameter of 4 cm, with a maximum height of 1000 mm from the bottom of the dishwasher to prevent backflow.
  • Energy Efficiency Class: E (for the ECO program).
  • Energy Consumption (ECO program): 0.937 kWh/cycle.
  • Water Consumption (ECO program): 11.0 liters/cycle.
  • Program Duration (ECO program): 3:50 (h:min).
  • Airborne Acoustical Noise Emissions: 49 dB(A) re 1 pW, with an emission class of C.
  • Power Consumption (Standby mode): 0.49 W.
  • Power Consumption (Delay start): 1.00 W.
  • Guarantee: Minimum 24 months. Repair spare parts are available for 10 years.

Usage Features:

  • Loading Baskets: The manual provides detailed instructions and diagrams for optimal loading of the upper and lower baskets, as well as the cutlery basket, to ensure effective cleaning and prevent damage. Sharp items should be placed with points facing down or horizontally. Overloading is discouraged to maintain good results and reasonable energy consumption.
  • Adjusting Upper Basket Height: The upper basket's height can be easily adjusted to accommodate taller dishes in either the upper or lower basket.
  • Folding Cup Shelves and Rack Spikes: Cup shelves can be raised or removed, and lower basket spikes can be folded down to create more space for larger items.
  • Starting a Cycle: The process involves loading dishes, adding detergent, plugging in the appliance, ensuring the water supply is open, closing the door, powering on, selecting a program, and pressing Start/Pause.
  • Changing Program Mid-cycle: A running program can be changed if detergent has not yet been released. This involves pausing the wash, canceling the current program, selecting a new one, and restarting.
  • Adding Forgotten Dishes: Dishes can be added mid-cycle before the detergent dispenser opens by pausing the wash, waiting 5 seconds, opening the door, adding items, closing the door, and restarting. A warning is given about hot steam when opening the door mid-cycle.
  • Error Codes: The dishwasher displays specific error codes (e.g., Rapid light flicker for longer inlet time, Glass and Rapid light flicker for heating element malfunction, 90 mins light flicker for overflow, ECO and Glass indicator flicker for communication failure) to help identify and troubleshoot issues.

Maintenance Features:

  • External Care: Regular cleaning of door seals with a soft, damp cloth to remove food deposits. The control panel should also be wiped with a soft, damp cloth. Abrasive cleaners or spray cleaners should not be used to prevent water penetration into electrical components.
  • Internal Care (Filtering System): The filtering system (main filter, coarse filter, fine filter) in the wash cabinet needs regular cleaning to prevent clogging from food debris. Instructions are provided for disassembling and cleaning the filters under running water with a soft brush. It is crucial to reassemble filters correctly and not operate the dishwasher without them.
  • Spray Arms: The spray arms should be cleaned regularly to prevent hard water chemicals from clogging the jets and bearings. Instructions are given for removing and cleaning both upper and lower spray arms with soapy water and a soft brush.
  • Frost Precaution: During winter, specific measures are recommended to protect the dishwasher from frost, including cutting off electrical power, turning off and disconnecting the water supply, draining water from pipes, and removing the filter to soak up water in the sump.
  • After Every Wash: After each wash, the water supply should be turned off, and the door left slightly ajar to prevent moisture and odors from accumulating.
  • Removing the Plug: The appliance should always be unplugged before cleaning or maintenance.
  • No Solvents or Abrasive Cleaning: Only warm soapy water should be used for external and rubber parts. For internal spots or stains, a cloth dampened with water and a little vinegar or a specific dishwasher cleaning product is recommended.
  • Long-term Storage: If not used for an extended period, it is advised to run an empty wash cycle, unplug the appliance, turn off the water supply, and leave the door slightly open to prolong seal life and prevent odors.
  • Moving the Appliance: The dishwasher should ideally be kept in a vertical position when moved; if necessary, it can be laid on its back.
  • Seals: Regular cleaning of door seals with a damp sponge is recommended to prevent food residue and odors.
