6 Handling
6.1 Switch operation
Important! The band saw must not be switched on
before the operator has read these
operating instructions and the band saw
has been connected correctly!
Danger! The saw band must be correctly
mounted and firmly seated.
6.1.1 Switching on
Danger! The saw is only allowed to be
switched on when the saw band is
correctly positioned on the drive and
return wheel and in the two guides!
Before switching on, the following points must be checked without fail! An early failure of the saw band as well
as problems in the slaughtering process can thus be avoided to a large extent.
Before switching on, check that:
the band saw is operational;
the saw band is correctly inserted;
the water supply is correctly connected and switched on;
the suspension (spring balancer) is correctly mounted and is operational;
the guides are spring-loaded and not fixed;
a sharp saw band was mounted directly before
starting work, see section 7.1.2 Mounting saw band;
the general safety instructions have been taken into
account, see chapter 2 Safety.
To switch on, both covers (A) must be closed (switch-on
safety device).
EFA SB 295 ES/E/EL and EFA SB 327 E – see Fig. 6.1 –
The machines are equipped with two switching handles (B)
(two-hand safety control).
To switch on, operate both switches of the switching handles
simultaneously.
If one switch is released during operation, both switches must be
released again and operated simultaneously.
EFA SB 287 E and EFA SB 288 E – see Fig. 6.2 –
The machines are equipped with a switching handle (C) and
a guide handle (D) (one-hand control).
To switch on, operate the switch of the switching handle.
If the switch is released during operation, the switch
must be pressed again.
Warning! For safety reasons, EFA band
saws must be held with two
handles.
Never work one-handed!
