Why is my Efco Power Chainsaw bar and chain running hot and smoking?
    • H
      hayeslukeAug 2, 2025
The bar and chain may be running hot and smoking because the chain oil tank is empty, the chain tension is too tight, or there's an issue with the oiler function. Ensure the oil tank is filled each time you fill the fuel tank. Adjust the chain tension according to the instructions. Run the saw at full throttle for 15 to 30 seconds, then stop it and check for oil dripping from the bar tip guard and guide bar. If there is no oil, contact a Servicing Dealer.

      Christopher KaufmanAug 7, 2025
If your chainsaw engine isn't reaching full speed and is emitting excessive smoke, check the oil fuel mixture and ensure you are using fresh fuel and the correct 2-cycle oil mix. Also, the air filter might be dirty, so clean it following the instructions in the Maintenance- Air Filter Section. If the problem persists, the carburetor may require adjustment, so contact a Servicing Dealer.

What to do if my Efco Power Chainsaw engine will not start or runs only briefly?
    • L
      Lisa BakerAug 12, 2025
If the engine won't start or runs only for a few seconds, the issue might be due to a lack of spark or a flooded engine. Check for a spark at the spark plug tip; if there's no spark, try again with a new spark plug (CMR7A). If the engine is flooded, follow the procedure on page 18. If starting still fails, repeat the procedure with a new spark plug.

If the engine runs but the chain isn't rotating, first, ensure the chain brake is released. Second, check the chain tension. If the problem still persists, refer to Assembly-Assembling the Bar and Chain Section (Pag.13) and Maintenance-Chain and/or Maintenance-Guide Bar Section (Pag.20-22). If the clutch drum or rim sprocket is damaged, contact a Servicing Dealer.
