  If your Efco Grass trimmer engine doesn't start or stalls shortly after starting, there could be two reasons. First, there might be no spark. Check the spark plug for a spark; if there isn't one, try again with a new RCJ-7Y spark plug. Second, the engine might be flooded. Follow the procedure on page 26 of the manual. If it still doesn't start, repeat the procedure with a new spark plug.

  If your Efco Grass trimmer engine starts, runs, and accelerates, but does not idle, the carburetor likely needs adjustment. Adjust the idle speed screw “T” (Fig.95, pag.50) clockwise to increase the speed; see chapter Manutenzione carburatore.

  If your Efco Grass trimmer engine doesn't reach full speed or emits excessive smoke, check a few things: * Ensure you're using fresh gasoline and the correct 2-stroke engine oil. * Clean the air filter following the instructions in the air filter maintenance chapter. * It may be necessary to contact an Authorized Service Center to adjust the carburetor.
