This document describes a 56-volt lithium-ion battery pack, designed for use with EGO Power+ lawn and garden equipment. The battery pack is available in several models, including BA1400T, BA2240T, BA2242T, BA2800T, BA4200T, BA5600T, and BA6720T, offering varying capacities from 2.5 Ah to 12.0 Ah.

Function Description:

The battery pack serves as a portable power source for EGO Power+ cordless tools. It features a 5-LED indicator that displays the charge level and working condition when the power button is pressed, illuminating for 10 seconds. The indicator provides visual cues for the battery's status:

80%–100% charge: 5 green LEDs
60%–<80% charge: 4 green LEDs
40%–<60% charge: 3 green LEDs
20%–<40% charge: 2 green LEDs
10%–<20% charge: 1 green LED
<10% charge: 1 flashing red LED, indicating low voltage and immediate need for charging.
Low voltage: 5 flashing red LEDs, indicating the battery is nearly depleted.
Over temperature: 5 solid red LEDs, indicating the battery pack is too hot and needs to cool down below 67°C.
Self-maintenance (for BA1400T, BA2242T, BA2800T, BA4200T, BA5600T, BA6720T): 5 solid red LEDs for 10 seconds, then off for 10 seconds, then solid red for 10 seconds again, or 5 flashing green LEDs every two seconds (depending on battery version). This cycle continues until self-maintenance is complete. The BA2240T model does not have a special indicator for self-maintenance.

The battery pack incorporates advanced self-maintenance functionality to extend its lifespan. Depending on the charge level, it automatically performs a self-discharge operation after one month of storage, entering a sleep mode and maintaining 30% of its charge capacity.

The battery circuitry provides protection against extreme temperatures, over-discharge, and over-charge. If the battery becomes overloaded or too hot (exceeding 70°C), the circuitry will shut down the battery pack to prevent damage and prolong its life. Normal operation resumes when the temperature drops to 67°C.

Usage Features:

Charging: Lithium-ion battery packs are shipped partially charged and should be fully charged before first use. They can be charged at any time without developing a "memory effect." The power indicator helps determine when recharging is needed. Charging should be done using specified EGO chargers (CH5500E Rapid Charger or CH2100E Charger) in a location where the ambient temperature is between 5°C and 40°C.
Cold Weather Operation: The battery pack performs optimally between 10°C and 26°C. If very cold, it may "pulse" for the first minute to warm itself. It is recommended to attach it to a tool and use the tool in a light application until it warms up.
Attachment and Detachment: Follow the instructions in the operator’s manual for the specific EGO product.
Safety Precautions:
- Always wear safety goggles or glasses with side shields, and a full face shield when operating power tools.
- Read and understand all safety instructions in the operator’s manual.
- Do not disassemble, heat above 100°C, or incinerate the battery.
- Keep the battery out of reach of children and in its original package until ready for use.
- Do not expose the battery to fire, water, or continuous intense sunlight.
- Avoid contact with brake fluids, gasoline, petroleum-based products, oils, etc., as these chemicals can damage plastic parts.
- Always remove the battery pack from the product when assembling parts, making adjustments, cleaning, or when the product is not in use.
- Do not short-circuit battery terminals with metal objects.
- In case of battery leakage, avoid contact with skin or eyes. If contact occurs, flush with water and seek medical advice.

Maintenance Features:

General Maintenance: Avoid using solvents for cleaning plastic parts. Use clean cloths to remove dirt, dust, oil, and grease.
Storage: For storage longer than 30 days, keep the battery pack in a dry location below 26°C. Store it in a 30%–50% charged condition. Fully charge the battery pack every six months during storage.
Cleaning: The exterior can be cleaned with a cloth or a soft, non-metallic brush. Compressed dry air is not recommended for cleaning; if used, wear safety goggles/glasses with side shields and a dust mask if dusty.
Repair: All repairs should be performed by a qualified service technician using only identical EGO replacement parts to ensure safety and reliability.
Disposal and Recycling: Do not dispose of battery packs into household waste, fire, or water. Lithium-ion batteries must be collected, recycled, or disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner, in accordance with local regulations (e.g., European laws 2012/19/EU and 2006/66/EC). When removing the battery pack for disposal or recycling, cover its terminals with heavy-duty adhesive tape to prevent short circuits. Do not attempt to destroy or disassemble the battery pack.
