  If the remote control of your Electric Fireplaces Direct Indoor Fireplace only works sometimes, it might be due to pressing the buttons too quickly. Try pressing the buttons slowly and steadily. Also, make sure you are within 20 feet of the insert and within a 45-degree angle, as the remote control may not work from further away or at an off angle.

  If the control panel of your Electric Fireplaces Direct Indoor Fireplace displays error code E1, it means the overheat sensor has been engaged. To fix this, unplug the unit and wait 15-20 minutes for the sensor to reset. Then, plug the unit back in and turn on the heater. If the problem continues, contact customer service. Note that while this error is present, other functions besides the heater will work normally, and the error will only appear when the heater button is pressed.
