What causes arcing at the top of Electro-Air Air Cleaner cells?
    • O
      ocarpenterAug 17, 2025
If you notice excessive arcing at the top of the cells near the copper contacts in your Electro-Air Air Cleaner (with both power and performance lights ON), it could be due to broken or bent upward copper contacts on the high voltage contact board. If possible, pull down the contacts with needle-nose pliers, or remove the power box and replace the contacts.

Why is my Electro-Air Air Cleaner not collecting dirt?
    • K
      Karen ThorntonAug 28, 2025
If the cells in your Electro-Air Air Cleaner aren't collecting dirt, even though the power and performance lights are on, there are a few potential reasons. First, ensure that the arrow on the cells is pointing towards the fan blower; reposition the cell handle and place the cell in properly. Second, if your system fan is on the “Automatic” setting, the air cleaner might not be running continuously; use the “Fan On” system fan setting for continuous operation. Finally, there might not be enough voltage on the collecting cells; adjust the high voltage potentiometer counter-clockwise on the power board.

How to troubleshoot Electro-Air Air Cleaner when power and performance lights are off?
    • S
      Scott CarpenterAug 31, 2025
If your Electro-Air Air Cleaner isn't functioning and both the power and performance indicator lights are off, the issue could stem from several causes. First, ensure that the system fan is turned on. Check the wiring to confirm it's properly connected and that the plug is inserted into a powered receptacle. A defective power switch could also be the culprit; check it for continuity with an ohmmeter and replace it if defective. Lastly, a defective safety interlock might be the cause; remove the door and press the safety interlock with a screwdriver. If the lights come on, bend the interlock lever towards the front and close the door.

What to do if Electro-Air EASASD-10ASC Air Cleaner cell makes hissing noise?
    • A
      Andrea SotoSep 5, 2025
A loud hissing noise or radio interference from your Electro-Air Air Cleaner cell can be caused by internal cell contacts not touching plates; test the contacts and repair them. Alternatively, the copper contacts on the high voltage tray might not be making a good connection on the cell; gently pull the contacts down with needle-nose pliers or replace the contacts.

If the power light is OFF but the performance indicator light is ON in your Electro-Air Air Cleaner, the defective power switch light is likely the cause. Replace the power switch.

What to do if my Electro-Air EASASD-10ASC cells are arcing excessively?
    • J
      Johnny BranchNov 12, 2025
Excessive arcing in the Electro-Air Air Cleaner, indicated by the power and performance lights flashing, can be due to several factors. The cells might still be wet after washing, in which case you should allow them to dry completely. There could be particles lodged in the cell or a broken ionizing wire, requiring you to wash the cell, shake out any particles, and replace the wire if needed. Another cause is that the ducts weren't cleaned before installing the air cleaner, so cleaning the ducts is advised. If the cell plates are bent, you can remove the cells and carefully adjust them back to their original spacing using needle-nose pliers. High voltage could be too high, necessitating an adjustment of the high voltage potentiometer on the power board clockwise. Check if the high voltage w...

Why is the performance indicator light off on my Electro-Air EASASD-10ASC Air Cleaner?
    • T
      Tara KnoxNov 20, 2025
If your Electro-Air Air Cleaner's power light is ON but the performance light is OFF, several issues could be the cause. There might be a short in the cells due to a broken ionizing wire, large particles wedged between the cell plates, recently washed cells that are still wet, a dirty or damaged cell end plate insulator, or bent cell plates. Remove any wire fragments and replace the wire if broken. Shake out large particles or wash the cell. Allow cells to dry completely. Clean or replace the end plate insulator. Straighten plates with pliers. The performance indicator light itself could be defective; test the power board for high voltage, and if voltage is present, replace the indicator light. A defective power board could also be the problem; try adjusting the high voltage potentiometer ...

How to get rid of ozone odor from Electro-Air EASASD-10ASC Air Cleaner?
    • V
      Vanessa VazquezNov 23, 2025
An ozone odor from your Electro-Air Air Cleaner can stem from several causes. Check if the cell plates are bent and straighten them with needle-nose pliers. Inspect for loose or broken ionizing wires and replace them. Dirty cells can also produce this odor, so wash them. Ensure the air cleaner isn't running when the system fan is off, which could indicate incorrect wiring or a defective air proving switch, so check the operation and wiring of the air switch and air cleaner. If the incoming voltage is higher than 120 V, adjust the high voltage potentiometer clockwise on the power board. The air cleaner might be oversized for the house, leading to insufficient airflow across the cells, in which case you should use the correct size of air cleaner. Extremely dry conditions in the home can also...
