This document is a user manual for the Electrolux EDH803CEWA Tumble Dryer.
Function Description
The Electrolux EDH803CEWA is a tumble dryer designed for household use, capable of drying various fabric types. It operates with a heat pump system, which is more energy-efficient than traditional vented dryers. The appliance offers multiple drying programs and options to suit different laundry needs, including specific settings for cottons, synthetics, delicates, wool, sports attire, and shirts. It also features an "Energy Saver" program for optimal energy consumption with cotton cupboard dryness. The dryer is equipped with a control panel for program selection, option adjustments, and monitoring the drying process through a display.
Key features include:
- Drying Programs: A range of programs tailored for different fabric types and desired dryness levels, such as "Favourite" (customizable), "Cottons," "Mixed +," "Bedding +," "Synthetics," "Energy Saver," "Refresh," "Time Drying," "Sports," "Silk," "Shirts," and "Wool."
- Dryness Levels: Options to adjust the final dryness of laundry, including "Extra Dry," "Cupboard Dry," and "Iron Dry."
- Time Dry Function: Allows users to set a specific drying duration from 10 minutes to 2 hours, suitable for small loads or single items.
- Extra Anticrease: Extends the anti-crease phase at the end of the cycle by 30, 60, 90 minutes, or 2 hours to reduce creasing.
- Reverse Plus: Increases drum reversing frequency to minimize twisting and entanglement of items, improving drying uniformity and reducing creases, especially for large or long items.
- Extra Silent: Operates with reduced noise levels without compromising drying quality, though it results in a longer cycle time.
- Delay Start: Enables users to postpone the start of a program from 1 to 20 hours.
- End Alert: A buzzer function that sounds at the cycle end, and at the start and end of the anti-crease phase, or upon cycle interruption. This function can be activated or deactivated.
- Child Lock: Prevents children from interacting with the control panel during operation, locking all touch buttons except the on/off button.
- Remaining Moisture Adjustment: Allows selection of three levels corresponding to different water hardness ranges to optimize drying results.
- Water Container Indicator: Illuminates when the program is complete or when the water container needs to be emptied. If a draining kit is installed, this indicator can be deactivated.
- Door Reversibility: The appliance door can be reversed for ease of loading or installation.

Usage Features
The tumble dryer is designed for user-friendly operation:
- Preparation: Before first use, it is recommended to clean the drum with a moist cloth and run a 1-hour program with moist laundry to remove any unusual smells from unpacking. Rear drum locks are automatically deactivated upon the first program start.
- Loading Laundry: Users should prepare laundry by closing zips and fasteners, and shaking clothes one by one to ensure proper air circulation and even drying. It is advised not to dry large and small items together to prevent smaller items from remaining wet.
- Program Selection: Programs are selected using a knob, and options are activated via touch buttons on the control panel.
- Starting a Program: Programs can be started immediately or with a delay. The display shows the program duration or delay countdown.
- Program Change/Interruption: Programs can be changed or interrupted by deactivating and reactivating the appliance.
- End of Program: An intermittent acoustic signal indicates the end of a program. The display shows "0:00," and indicators for filter and water container remain on, prompting maintenance.
- Stand-by Function: The appliance automatically deactivates after 5 minutes of inactivity to reduce energy consumption.
- Troubleshooting: The manual provides a comprehensive troubleshooting guide for common issues like inability to activate, program not starting, door not closing, or appliance stopping during operation. It also addresses unsatisfactory drying results, suggesting checks for program selection, filter cleanliness, laundry wetness, room temperature, and conductivity sensor settings.
Maintenance Features
Regular maintenance is crucial for optimal performance and longevity of the appliance:
- Cleaning the Filter: The filter must be cleaned before or after each use. Lint should be thrown into a dustbin, avoiding water. A vacuum cleaner can be used if necessary. Clogged filters lead to longer cycles and increased energy consumption.
- Emptying the Water Container: The water container should be emptied after each program. The collected water can be used as an alternative to distilled water for steam ironing, provided dirt residues are removed with a filter.
- Cleaning the Heat Exchanger: The manual provides step-by-step instructions for cleaning the heat exchanger, which involves removing its lid and cover, and carefully cleaning the components. Protective gloves are recommended due to potential sharp metal surfaces.
- Cleaning the Humidity Sensor: The metal humidity sensor, located on the inner side of the door area, should be cleaned regularly (at least 3-4 times a year or if drying performance drops) to ensure accurate drying results. A dish-washing sponge with vinegar or dish soap can be used, but abrasive materials or steel wool should be avoided to prevent damage.
- Cleaning the Drum: The inner surface of the drum and drum lifters can be cleaned with a standard neutral soap detergent and a moist soft cloth. Abrasive materials or steel wool should not be used.
- Cleaning the Control Panel and Housing: The control panel and housing can be cleaned with a standard neutral soap detergent and a moist cloth. Furniture cleaning agents or corrosive agents should be avoided.
- Cleaning Airflow Slots: A vacuum cleaner can be used to remove fluff from the airflow slots.
