This document is a user manual for an Electrolux fridge freezer, models EN3881AOY and EN3881AOX. It provides comprehensive instructions for safe operation, daily use, maintenance, troubleshooting, and installation.
The appliance is designed for household use, suitable for storing food and beverages in various environments like staff kitchens, farmhouses, hotels, and bed and breakfast establishments. It uses isobutane (R600a) as a refrigerant, which is environmentally friendly but flammable, requiring careful handling during transport and installation to avoid damage to the refrigerant circuit.
Function Description:
The fridge freezer features a control panel with a display that allows users to manage various functions and settings. Key functions include:
- Temperature Regulation: Users can set the desired temperature for both the fridge and freezer compartments. The default settings are +4°C for the fridge and -18°C for the freezer.
- EcoMode: This function optimizes food storage for energy efficiency, setting the fridge to +4°C and the freezer to -18°C.
- ChildLock Mode: This feature locks the control panel buttons to prevent accidental changes to settings.
- HolidayMode: Ideal for long holiday periods when the fridge compartment is empty, this function prevents bad smells from forming. The fridge compartment must be empty when this function is active.
- DrinksChill Mode: This mode sets an acoustic alarm at a preferred time, useful for cooling drinks quickly or as a reminder. Users can adjust the timer from 1 to 90 minutes.
- ShoppingMode: Recommended when adding a large amount of warm food, this function rapidly chills products to avoid warming other food already in the refrigerator. It automatically deactivates after approximately 6 hours.
- FastFreeze Mode: This function is for freezing fresh food quickly. It should be activated at least 24 hours before placing food in the freezer and automatically stops after 52 hours.
- Extra Humidity Function: This function increases humidity in the refrigerator, beneficial for storing certain vegetables and fruits.
- High Temperature Alarm: The appliance alerts users with flashing indicators and an audible buzzer if the freezer compartment temperature increases significantly (e.g., due to a power failure).
- Door Open Alarm: An acoustic alarm sounds if a door is left open for a few minutes, accompanied by a flashing alarm indicator.
Usage Features:
The fridge freezer is equipped with several features to enhance daily use and food storage:
- Movable Glass Shelves: The refrigerator walls have runners, allowing shelves to be positioned at various heights to accommodate different food items.
- Bottle Rack: A pre-positioned shelf designed to hold bottles. It can be tilted upwards to store previously opened bottles.
- Dynamic Air Cooling (Multiflow Technology): This system ensures rapid cooling and a more uniform temperature throughout the compartment.
- CrispFresh Drawer: A dedicated drawer for keeping food fresh.
- Freshzone Drawer: This compartment can be used as a Freshzone for optimal food preservation or as a low-temperature drawer. It features a flap that can be slid up or down to activate or deactivate the function.
- QuickChill of Drinks: This function allows for rapid cooling of drinks by placing them in the Freshzone drawer with the bottle rack in front of the QuickChill slots.
- Freezer Baskets: Designed for easy organization and access to frozen food. They have limit stops to prevent accidental removal.
- Carbon Air Filter (TasteGuard Filter): Located behind a flap in the rear wall of the air distributing box, this filter purifies the air from unwanted odors, maintaining the best flavor and aroma of foodstuffs. It should be changed every six months.
- Humidity Control: The vegetable drawer features humidity control. For normal conditions with a mix of vegetables and fruits, the control should be set to high humidity (large drop icon). If the drawer is tightly packed or contains produce that releases a lot of water (like lettuce or mushrooms), opening the vents slightly (small droplet icon) can prevent water buildup. This also helps manage ethylene accumulation from fruits like apples, which can speed up the aging of other produce.
- Door Shelves: These can be adjusted to different heights to store various sizes of food packages. The large lower door shelf should not be moved to ensure proper air circulation.
Maintenance Features:
Regular care and cleaning are essential for the appliance's longevity and performance:
- Cleaning the Interior: The interior and accessories should be cleaned with lukewarm water and neutral soap. Abrasive powders, highly perfumed cleaning products, or wax polishes should not be used as they can damage the surface and leave odors.
- Door Seals: Regularly check and wipe door seals to ensure they are clean and free from debris.
- Condenser and Compressor: The condenser (black grill) and compressor at the back of the appliance should be cleaned with a brush to improve performance and save electricity.
- Defrosting the Refrigerator: The refrigerator compartment automatically defrosts. Defrost water drains through a hole into a container over the motor compressor, where it evaporates. The drain hole should be periodically cleaned with the provided special cleaner to prevent water overflow.
- Defrosting the Freezer: The freezer compartment is a "no frost" type, meaning there is no frost buildup on internal walls or food due to continuous cold air circulation driven by a fan.
- Replacing the Carbon Air Filter: The carbon air filter should be replaced every six months. Instructions for installation are provided.
- Replacing the Lamp: The appliance is equipped with a long-life LED interior light. Only authorized service personnel should replace the lighting device.
- Closing the Door: To ensure proper door closure, clean the door gaskets, adjust the door if necessary, and replace defective gaskets through a Service Center.
The manual also includes troubleshooting tips for common issues like noisy operation, continuous compressor running, water flow problems, and temperature alarms, advising users to contact service if solutions are not found. It emphasizes safety precautions, particularly regarding electrical connections and door reversibility, which may require professional assistance.
