Function Description
The Electrolux EUC2244AOW is a built-in freezer designed for household and similar applications. Its primary function is to freeze and store fresh and deep-frozen food for extended periods. The appliance utilizes isobutane (R600a) as a refrigerant, a natural gas with high environmental compatibility. It features a frost-free freezer compartment, eliminating the need for manual defrosting as frost does not build up on internal walls or food items during operation. The freezer is equipped with a control panel that allows users to manage various functions, including temperature regulation, FastFreeze, ChildLock, and DrinksChill. It also incorporates an alarm system for high temperatures and an open door warning. The appliance is designed to operate within specific ambient temperature ranges, indicated by its climate class (SN, N, ST, T), to ensure optimal performance.
Usage Features
The freezer offers several features to enhance usability and food preservation:
- Temperature Regulation: Users can set the desired temperature for the freezer compartment using dedicated temperature regulators on the control panel. The default set temperature is -18°C. The appliance takes approximately 24 hours to reach the set temperature. In case of a power failure, the set temperature remains stored.
- FastFreeze Function: This function is designed to accelerate the freezing of fresh food, thereby protecting already stored foodstuffs from undesirable warming. It should be activated at least 24 hours before placing food to be frozen. The function stops automatically after 52 hours but can be manually switched off earlier.
- ChildLock Function: To prevent unintentional operation, the ChildLock function can be activated, locking the control panel buttons.
- DrinksChill Function: This feature allows users to set an acoustic alarm for a preferred time, useful for cooling food products or as a reminder for items placed in the freezer for fast cooling. The timer can be adjusted from 1 to 90 minutes.
- High Temperature Alarm: The appliance alerts users with a flashing alarm icon, freezer temperature indicators, and an audible buzzer if the temperature in the freezer compartment increases significantly (e.g., due to a power failure). Pressing any button mutes the buzzer, but the alarm indicator continues to flash until normal conditions are restored.
- Door Open Alarm: If the freezer door is left open for approximately 90 seconds, an audible alarm sounds, and the alarm indicator flashes. The alarm stops once the door is closed.
- Freezing Fresh Food: For optimal freezing, fresh food should be placed in the two top compartments. It is recommended to divide food into small portions and wrap them in airtight aluminum foil or polythene. To avoid increasing the temperature of already frozen food, fresh unfrozen food should not be placed directly next to it.
- Storage of Frozen Food: The manual advises following storage instructions on frozen food packaging and ensuring commercially frozen food is adequately stored by the retailer and transferred to the freezer as quickly as possible. Once defrosted, food should not be refrozen.
- Ice-Cube Production: The appliance includes trays for making ice cubes. Users should fill the trays with water and place them in the freezer compartment. Metallic instruments should not be used to remove the trays.
- Cold Accumulators: The freezer contains at least one cold accumulator to extend storage time during power cuts or breakdowns.
- Energy Saving Tips: To save energy, users are advised to utilize the Eco mode/default setting, ensure the internal configuration of the appliance is maintained for efficient use, avoid removing cold accumulators from the freezer basket, and minimize door opening frequency and duration.
Maintenance Features

- General Warnings: Before any maintenance operation, the appliance must be unplugged from the mains supply. Only qualified personnel should perform maintenance and recharging of the cooling unit, which contains hydrocarbons.
