Overview

This document is a user manual for the Electrolux EUX2245AOX freezer. It provides comprehensive instructions for installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting, ensuring safe and efficient use of the appliance.

Function Description

The Electrolux EUX2245AOX is a freezer designed for household and similar applications. Its primary function is to freeze fresh food and store frozen and deep-frozen food for extended periods. The appliance utilizes isobutane (R600a) as a refrigerant, a natural gas with high environmental compatibility.

Key operational modes include:

  • Temperature Regulation: Users can set the desired temperature for the freezer compartment using dedicated temperature regulators. The default setting for the freezer is -18°C. The appliance takes approximately 24 hours to reach the set temperature.
  • Eco Mode: This mode is designed for optimal food storage and energy efficiency. When activated, the freezer automatically sets its temperature to -18°C. It can be switched off manually or will deactivate if a different temperature is selected.
  • FastFreeze Mode: This function is used for rapidly freezing fresh food. It automatically stops after 52 hours. During this period, no other food should be added to the freezer. Once the freezing process is complete, the user should return to the required temperature setting.
  • DrinksChill Mode: This mode allows users to set an acoustic alarm for a preferred time, useful for chilling drinks quickly or as a reminder. The timer can be adjusted from 1 to 90 minutes. An audible alarm and flashing indicator signal the end of the countdown.

The freezer is equipped with an internal light, which is an LED type, not suitable for household room illumination.

Usage Features

The manual emphasizes safe and correct usage of the freezer.

  • Installation: The appliance should be installed by a qualified person, ensuring all packaging and transit bolts are removed. It should not be installed near heat sources, direct sunlight, or in overly humid or cold areas. Proper ventilation around the appliance is crucial. After installation or door reversal, a minimum 4-hour waiting period is required before connecting to power to allow the compressor oil to settle.
  • Electrical Connection: The appliance must be earthed and connected to a correctly installed shockproof socket. Multi-plug adapters and extension cables should not be used. The mains cable and plug should be protected from damage, and access to the mains plug should be maintained after installation.
  • Freezing Fresh Food: To freeze fresh food, activate the FastFreeze function and place the food in the two top compartments. The maximum freezing capacity within 24 hours is specified on the rating plate. Food should be prepared in small portions, wrapped in airtight aluminum foil or polythene, and should not touch already frozen food to prevent temperature rise. Lean foods store better and longer, while salt reduces storage life.
  • Storage of Frozen Food: For best performance, commercially frozen foodstuffs should be adequately stored by the retailer and transferred to the freezer as quickly as possible. The door should not be opened frequently or left open for extended periods. Once defrosted, food should not be refrozen.
  • Ice-cube Production: The freezer includes trays for ice-cube production. Metallic instruments should not be used to remove ice trays.
  • Cold Accumulators: The freezer contains cold accumulators to extend storage time during power cuts or breakdowns. These should be placed on top of frozen food in the front part.
  • Alarms: The appliance features a high-temperature alarm, indicated by flashing alarm and freezer temperature indicators and an audible buzzer, which can be reset by pressing any button. A door-open alarm sounds if the door is left open for a few minutes, indicated by a flashing alarm light and acoustic buzzer.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is essential for the appliance's longevity and efficient operation.

  • Periodic Cleaning: The interior and accessories should be cleaned regularly with lukewarm water and neutral soap, then dried thoroughly. Door seals should be checked and wiped clean of debris. The condenser and compressor at the back of the appliance should be cleaned with a brush if accessible, to improve performance and save electricity. Detergents, abrasive powders, chlorine, or oil-based cleaners should not be used as they can damage the finish.
  • Defrosting the Freezer: The freezer compartment is frost-free, meaning no frost build-up occurs on internal walls or food during operation. Therefore, manual defrosting is not typically required for frost removal.
  • Non-operation Periods: If the appliance is not in use for long periods, it should be disconnected from the electricity supply, all food removed, and the interior and accessories cleaned. The door should be left open to prevent unpleasant smells. If the appliance needs to remain switched on, periodic checks are recommended to prevent food spoilage during power failures.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides a comprehensive troubleshooting guide for common issues such as the appliance not operating, being noisy, or alarms activating. It offers solutions like checking power connections, ensuring proper support, adjusting temperature settings, and closing the door correctly.
  • Lamp Replacement: The appliance is equipped with a long-life LED interior light. Only authorized service personnel should replace the lighting device.
  • Door Gaskets: For proper door closure, door gaskets should be cleaned, and if necessary, the door should be adjusted or defective gaskets replaced by an Authorized Service Centre.
  • Refrigerant Circuit: The appliance contains hydrocarbons in its cooling unit. Maintenance and recharging of the unit must only be carried out by authorized technicians to avoid damage to the refrigerant circuit, which contains flammable gas. In case of damage, ensure no flames or ignition sources are present in the room and ventilate the area.
