Overview

This document is a user manual for the Electrolux LFE216S cooker hood, providing comprehensive instructions for its installation, operation, and maintenance.

Function Description

The Electrolux LFE216S cooker hood is designed to extract unpleasant odours from the kitchen. It operates in two primary modes: extraction and recirculation. In extraction mode, fumes are vented to the outside through a hose connected to a coupling ring. For optimal performance in this mode, the hose diameter should match the outlet hole. In recirculation mode, the air is filtered through a charcoal filter and then returned to the kitchen. The cooker hood is supplied ready for use as a recirculation hood, but can be converted to extraction mode by removing the charcoal filter. It's important to note that the hood is designed for odour extraction and will not extract steam.

Usage Features

The cooker hood features a control panel with a light switch and a motor switch. The light switch turns the hood lamp on and off. The motor switch controls the motor, allowing users to select one of three different fan speeds. For best results, it is recommended to use a low speed for normal cooking conditions and a high speed for more concentrated odours. The hood should be turned on a few minutes before cooking and left on for about 15 minutes after cooking, or until all odours have dissipated.

An additional feature is a micro-switch located under the lower runner of the visor on the right-hand side. This micro-switch enables automatic switching on and off of the appliance by opening and closing the pull-out panel, provided that a fan speed has already been set and the light switch is in the "I" position.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the safe and efficient operation of the cooker hood.

Grease Filters: The grease filters are designed to absorb grease particles during cooking and must always be in place, regardless of whether the hood is in extraction or recirculation mode. The synthetic filter, approximately 1 mm thick, is positioned inside its support grill and should be changed once a month. The grill itself should be cleaned with lukewarm water and non-abrasive detergent when the filter is changed. Replacement grease filters can be ordered from a local Service Force Centre. To access the filter, the grill handles should be moved upwards, and the grill/filter extracted outwards. The synthetic filter is removed by taking out the stops. To refit, the grill should be placed on its supports and fixed in the lower part with the handles.

Charcoal Filters: Charcoal filters are used exclusively in recirculation mode. They are not washable or regenerable and should be replaced every 4 months under normal use. Replacement filters are available from a local Service Force Centre. To fit a charcoal filter, first remove the grill or metal grease filter. Then, place the charcoal filter over the grill protecting the extraction motor, ensuring the filter slots align with the pins on the motor protection grill. Turn the filter clockwise to lock it into position, then remount the grill or metal grease filter. Removal is the reverse process. When ordering replacement filters, it is essential to specify the hood model code and serial number, found on the rating plate inside the unit.

Cleaning the Hood: The exterior of the hood should be cleaned with a damp cloth and a solution of water and mild washing-up liquid. Corrosive, abrasive, or flammable cleaning products, or those containing bleach, should never be used. Pointed objects must not be inserted into the motor's protective grid. The switch panel and filter grill should only be cleaned with a damp cloth and mild washing-up liquid. All plastic parts should be cleaned with a soft cloth soaked in warm water and neutral soap. It is extremely important to clean the unit and change the filters at the recommended intervals, as failure to do so can lead to grease deposits building up, posing a fire hazard.

Changing Light Bulbs: Before changing light bulbs, the cooker hood must be disconnected from the mains supply, and the bulbs allowed to cool down. To change a bulb, remove the grill or metal grease filter, then replace the damaged lamp. Only E14 3W max LED lamps should be used. More details can be found in the enclosed leaflet "ILCOS D" (alphanumeric position "1d"). After replacement, remount the grill or metal grease filter. If the light does not come on, ensure the bulb is correctly inserted before contacting the Service Force Centre.
