This document is a user manual for an Electrolux cooker hood, model LFI514X. It provides comprehensive information on safety, installation, daily use, care, cleaning, and troubleshooting.
Function Description
The Electrolux LFI514X cooker hood is designed for domestic use above hobs, cookers, and similar cooking devices in an indoor environment. Its primary function is to extract cooking vapours and odours from the kitchen, ensuring good air quality. The appliance features a motor with multiple speed levels to adjust the extraction power according to cooking needs. It also includes integrated lighting to illuminate the cooking surface. The cooker hood is suitable for single household domestic use and can also be used in offices, hotel guest rooms, bed & breakfast guest rooms, farm guest houses, and other similar accommodations where usage levels do not exceed average domestic levels.
Usage Features
The cooker hood is operated via a control panel with four buttons:
- Lamp (1): This button turns the lights on and off, allowing independent control of the cooking surface illumination.
- First speed / Off (2): A first press activates the motor at the first speed level. A second press turns off the appliance. This button also serves as the primary on/off switch for the motor.
- Second speed (3): This button switches the motor to the second speed level, offering increased extraction power for more intensive cooking.
- Third speed (4): This button activates the motor at the third speed level, providing maximum extraction for heavy cooking or frying.
The manual provides guidance on selecting the appropriate speed based on cooking activity:
- First speed (Vo-1): Recommended for heating up food or cooking with covered pots.
- Second speed (U2): Suitable for cooking with covered pots on multiple cooking zones or burners, and for gentle frying.
- Third speed (U3): Ideal for boiling and frying large quantities of food without a lid, or when cooking on multiple cooking zones or burners.
It is recommended to leave the hood operating for approximately 15 minutes after cooking to ensure all remaining vapours are extracted.
Maintenance Features
Regular maintenance is crucial for the optimal performance and safety of the cooker hood. The manual outlines several key maintenance tasks:
General Cleaning:
- The appliance should be cleaned regularly with a soft cloth to prevent the deterioration of the surface material.
- Only neutral detergents should be used; abrasive detergents, brushes, steam cleaners, water sprays, harsh abrasive cleaners, or sharp metal scrapers are prohibited.
- After cooking, parts of the appliance can become hot, so it should be cooled down and dried with a clean cloth or paper towels to avoid stains.
- The interior of the appliance should also be cleaned with a cloth.
Grease Filter Cleaning:
- Grease filters must be cleaned regularly, at least every two months, to remove grease deposits and prevent the risk of fire.
- To remove a grease filter:
- Press the handle of the mounting clip on the filter panel underneath the hood.
- Slightly tilt the front of the filter downwards, then pull it out.
- Grease filters can be cleaned using a sponge with non-abrasive detergents or in a dishwasher. If using a dishwasher, it should be set to a low temperature and a short cycle. Discolouration of the grease filter may occur but does not affect its performance.
- To remount the filters, follow the removal steps in reverse order.
Charcoal Filter Replacement (if applicable):
- The charcoal filter is non-washable and cannot be regenerated.
- The saturation time of the charcoal filter varies depending on cooking type and grease filter cleaning regularity. It should be replaced approximately every 4-6 months, or more frequently with heavy usage.
- To replace the charcoal filter:
- Remove the grease filters from the appliance.
- Remove the clips holding the filter bed, then the filter bed itself.
- Install a new filter by performing the steps in reverse order.
Lamp Replacement:
- The appliance is supplied with a LED lamp and a separate control gear (LED driver).
- These parts can only be replaced by a qualified technician. In case of a malfunction, users are advised to refer to the "Service" section in the "Safety Instructions" chapter.
The manual emphasizes the importance of using original spare parts for repairs and contacting an Authorised Service Centre when necessary. It also highlights environmental concerns, encouraging users to recycle packaging and dispose of the appliance responsibly at local recycling facilities.
