Overview

The Elite Gourmet Single Cup Coffee Maker, model EHC113(A~Z), is designed for convenient and efficient brewing of single servings of coffee. This appliance is intended for indoor, household, and non-commercial use, making it a suitable addition to any kitchen for personal coffee enjoyment. Its compact design and straightforward operation emphasize ease of use and quick preparation.

Function Description:

The primary function of this device is to brew a single cup of coffee using ground coffee. It operates by heating water in a reservoir and then passing it through a filter basket containing coffee grounds, dripping the freshly brewed coffee directly into a mug placed on its base. The coffee maker is designed to deliver a hot beverage efficiently, catering to individual preferences for a quick coffee fix. It is specifically designed for use with ground coffee and includes a reusable mesh filter, eliminating the need for disposable paper filters. The unit is not compatible with K-cups or other coffee capsules, focusing solely on traditional ground coffee brewing.

Usage Features:

Operating the Elite Gourmet Single Cup Coffee Maker is a simple, multi-step process designed for user convenience. Before the first use, it is recommended to unpack all parts, remove any packaging materials, and clean the interior surface with a damp cloth, followed by a dry cloth. It is crucial to never immerse the appliance or its cord in water or any other liquid. For initial cleaning and to ensure optimal performance, running the coffee maker for one cycle with just plain water is advised.

To brew coffee, ensure the unit is unplugged and all parts are dry. Begin by pouring up to 14 ounces of water into the water tank. The filter basket should then be removed from the brewing chamber, and three tablespoons of finely ground coffee or four tablespoons of regular ground coffee should be placed evenly into the reusable mesh filter. The filter is then reinstalled into the filter basket, and the filter basket is placed back into the brewing chamber. After closing the water tank lid, a mug (without its lid) is placed onto the base. The coffee maker is then plugged into an electrical outlet, and the power button is pressed, which illuminates an indicator light. The brewing cycle will commence automatically.

During operation, it is important to exercise caution. The coffee maker will remain on until the brewing cycle is complete. To interrupt or stop the brewing, the plug must be disconnected from the electrical outlet. Users should avoid touching hot surfaces, including the warming plate and the lid, during and immediately after brewing, as scalding may occur. The lid of the water reservoir or the filter basket should not be opened while the coffee maker is brewing. After the brewing cycle is complete and the indicator light turns off, it is recommended to wait a minimum of 10 minutes before taking out the filter basket to prevent injury from hot steam. The hot coffee should be allowed to drip completely into the mug before removal.

For brewing a second mug of coffee, the appliance must be allowed to cool down completely for approximately three minutes after the indicator light turns off. Attempting to start another brewing cycle before the unit has cooled may result in an incomplete cycle, as the unit employs a thermal reset switch to prevent overheating. After cooling, the mug and mesh filter should be rinsed with water, and the brewing procedure can be repeated. It is crucial to note that the water placed in the water reservoir may overheat if the coffeemaker does not cool completely before reuse, potentially causing steam to escape and resulting in burns or personal injury.

The device is equipped with a short power cord to minimize the risk of entanglement or tripping. If an extension cord is used, it must have an electrical rating at least as great as the product's and be arranged to prevent accidental pulling or tripping. If the appliance has a polarized plug, it should be inserted into a polarized outlet correctly; if it doesn't fit, a qualified electrician should be consulted, and the plug should not be altered.

Maintenance Features:

Proper maintenance is essential to ensure the longevity and optimal performance of the Elite Gourmet Single Cup Coffee Maker. Cleaning should be performed after every use. Before cleaning, always unplug the main plug from the wall socket and allow all parts to cool completely. The housing and warming plate should be cleaned with a clean, damp cloth; never immerse the unit in water or wash it directly with water.

The mug, mug lid, filter, and filter basket should be removed from the coffee maker. The mug, mug lid, and filter basket are dishwasher-safe and can be placed on the upper rack of a dishwasher or hand-washed in warm, soapy water. The reusable mesh filter, however, must be washed by hand to prevent damage to its mesh. After washing, all parts must be completely dry before reassembly or storage. The coffee maker should be stored in a dry and clean place. It is important to note that parts may appear to fade if washed in a dishwasher.

Descaling is a crucial maintenance step to remove mineral buildup. This process should be performed by operating the appliance twice using a mixture of one part white vinegar and one part water, filling the water reservoir tank as usual. After this, the unit should be run twice more with only water to rinse away any remaining scale and vinegar. When cleaning, always use care to prevent damaging the filter mesh and ensure the filter is secured back in place before operating the coffeemaker. Avoid drying the inside of the water tank with a cloth, as lint may remain. Crucially, never immerse the entire coffee maker in water or any other liquid.
