Overview

The Evanesce B Series is an in-ceiling electric motorized front projection screen designed for both above and below ceiling installations, offering a sleek and concealed solution for home theaters, conference rooms, or any space requiring a discreet projection setup. This user's guide provides comprehensive instructions for safe operation, installation, and maintenance, ensuring optimal performance and longevity of the device.

Function Description

The primary function of the Evanesce B Series screen is to provide a high-quality, retractable surface for front projection. Its electric motor allows for smooth and quiet deployment and retraction, controlled by various methods to suit different user preferences and integration needs. The screen is designed to be hidden within the ceiling when not in use, offering a clean aesthetic and preserving the room's design. When activated, the screen descends from its concealed housing, ready for use. The motorized mechanism ensures a consistent and even drop, preventing wrinkles or uneven surfaces that could detract from the viewing experience. The screen's design emphasizes ease of integration into existing architectural designs, making it a versatile choice for both new constructions and renovations.

Usage Features

The Evanesce B Series offers a wide array of control options, providing flexibility and convenience for users. These include:

  • IR Remote Control: The infrared remote operates via direct line of sight, with a range of up to 30 feet. Users simply aim the remote at the IR "eye" receiver, which connects to the control box's RJ45 port, to control the screen's movement.
  • IR "Eye" Receiver: For recessed ceiling installations where direct line of sight to the control box might be obstructed, the IR "eye" receiver plugs directly into the control box's RJ45 port. This low-profile accessory extends the IR reception point, allowing the IR remote to function effectively even when the main control box is hidden.
  • RF Remote Control: The radio frequency remote eliminates the need for direct line of sight, offering a broader range of up to 100 feet. This is particularly useful in larger rooms or when the screen's control box is completely concealed.
  • 3-Way Wall Switch: A wall-mounted switch with up/stop/down buttons provides a permanent control point. This switch plugs directly into the control box's RJ45 port, offering a reliable and easily accessible control option that integrates seamlessly into the room's electrical system.
  • 5-12 Volt Trigger: This built-in input allows the screen to synchronize its deployment and retraction with the projector's power cycle. When the projector powers up, the screen automatically deploys; when the projector powers down, the screen retracts. This feature enhances automation and user convenience, ensuring the screen is always ready when the projector is in use. The 5-12 volt RJ45 cable connects to the projector's trigger output.
  • Wireless 5-12 Volt Trigger: This advanced feature combines the functionality of the RF remote with the 5-12 volt trigger. The RF remote can be programmed to send a wireless signal to synchronize the screen's movement with the projector's power cycle. This offers the benefits of both wireless control and automated synchronization, providing a highly integrated and convenient user experience. The setup involves connecting a 3.5 mm wireless 5-12 volt trigger cable to both the RF remote and the projector, then following a specific synchronization procedure to link the devices.

The screen's "Black Top Drop" is factory-set to its maximum distance, ensuring a consistent viewing area. Users are cautioned against attempting to extend this drop, as it could void the warranty. The system is designed for a continuous power flow, and users are advised to ensure the power source meets this requirement.

Maintenance Features

The Evanesce B Series is designed for durability and ease of installation, with several considerations for maintenance and longevity:

  • Professional Installation Recommended: While the manual provides detailed installation instructions, it strongly advises consulting a professional installation company. This ensures that proper mounting hardware is used, providing adequate strength and stability for the screen, and mitigating risks associated with faulty installations. Elite Screens is not liable for issues arising from improper installation.
  • Concealed Wiring: For installations where the power outlet is also concealed, Elite Screens strongly recommends a hardwire connection. The manual provides clear wiring diagrams for both 110V and 220V systems, facilitating proper electrical setup.
  • Protection During Installation: During the pre-installation phase, users are instructed to handle the screen carefully in a leveled position on a clean surface. This prevents exposure to foreign particles such as dust, sawdust, and liquids, which could stain or damage the screen surface.
  • Secure Mounting: Regardless of the mounting method (above or below ceiling), the screen must be securely supported to prevent vibration or pulling on the viewing surface from causing the casing to become loose or fall. The installer is responsible for ensuring that fasteners are of adequate strength and suitable for the installation location.
  • Non-User Serviceable Parts: The internal and external parts of the unit are not end-user serviceable. Users are explicitly warned against attempting to disassemble the unit or perform repairs themselves. Only authorized technicians are permitted to open and repair the unit, ensuring the integrity of the device and preserving the warranty.
  • Safety Precautions: The manual outlines critical safety precautions, including disconnecting the power cord during adverse weather conditions (heavy rain, wind, thunder, lightning), avoiding direct sunlight, rain, shower, and moisture, and keeping the unit away from fire sources and high temperatures to prevent overheating. It also advises against overloading the power cord and handling the power plug with wet hands or feet in contact with water.
  • Disposal Guidelines: When the product is no longer in service, users are instructed to dispose of the equipment properly according to local environmental regulations, promoting responsible end-of-life management.
  • FCC Compliance: The equipment has been tested and found to comply with Class B digital device limits, indicating it is designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. Troubleshooting steps are provided in case of interference, such as reorienting the receiving antenna or increasing separation from other devices.

By adhering to these guidelines, users can ensure the safe, reliable, and long-lasting operation of their Evanesce B Series projection screen.
