Overview

This document describes the Emaux SD & SDUS Series / ST & STUS Series swimming pool pumps, designed for clear water applications. The manual provides comprehensive information on installation, operation, maintenance, and safety instructions for these devices.

Function Description

The Emaux SD & SDUS Series / ST & STUS Series pumps are designed for swimming pool applications, primarily for circulating and filtering water. These pumps are self-priming and are intended to be installed in a dry, well-ventilated area as close to the pool as possible. Their primary function is to draw water from the pool, push it through a filtration system, and then return the filtered water to the pool, ensuring clean and clear water for swimming. The pumps are equipped with a pre-filter basket to capture larger debris before it reaches the pump's impeller, protecting the pump from damage and reducing the frequency of maintenance.

All models are designed for 50Hz operation, with some models also supporting 60Hz. The pumps are equipped with a 1.5" union adaptor for both metric and imperial PVC pipe connections.

Usage Features

  • Self-Priming: The pumps are designed to self-prime, simplifying the initial setup and restart process.
  • Pre-filter Basket: Each pump includes a pre-filter basket to trap large debris, preventing it from reaching the impeller and causing damage. This also reduces the frequency of pump maintenance.
  • Easy Installation: The manual emphasizes installing the pump as close to the pool as possible, in a dry, well-ventilated area, and securing it to a solid, elevated, rigid, and vibration-free surface. Adequate space for gate valves, pre-filter basket & lid opening, and motor ventilation is required.
  • Universal Adaptors: The 1.5" union adaptors are universally designed for both metric and imperial PVC pipe connections, offering flexibility during installation.
  • Electrical Safety: The pump must be supplied through a Residual Current Device (RCD) or Ground Fault Circuit Interrupt (GFCI) with a rated residual operation current not exceeding 30mA. This ensures electrical safety by protecting against electric shock.
  • Thermal Overload Protection: The pumps are equipped with thermal overload protection to prevent damage from overheating.
  • Clear Water Application: These pumps are specifically designed for clear water applications, ensuring optimal performance and longevity when used as intended.
  • Quiet Operation: The noise levels for most models range from 55 dB to 65 dB, indicating relatively quiet operation.

Maintenance Features

  • Routine Maintenance: The manual outlines a routine maintenance schedule to ensure optimal performance and longevity of the pump.
    • Pre-filter Basket Cleaning: The pre-filter basket should be inspected and cleaned regularly to prevent clogging and maintain efficient water flow. The frequency depends on the amount of debris in the pool.
    • Lid O-ring Inspection: The Lid O-ring should be inspected for wear and tear and lubricated regularly to ensure a watertight seal.
    • Pump Suction and Discharge Connections: Regularly check the suction and discharge connections for any leaks or blockages.
    • Motor Ventilation: Ensure adequate clearance for motor ventilation to prevent overheating.
  • Winterizing: For regions with freezing temperatures, the pump must be properly winterized to prevent damage. This involves draining all water from the pump and piping, and storing the plugs in the pump basket. The motor should be covered to protect it from snow, rain, and ice.
  • Troubleshooting Guide: The manual includes a comprehensive troubleshooting guide to help users identify and resolve common issues such as pump not running, low flow capacity, noisy pump, and air bubbles at inlet fittings.
  • Spare Parts List: Detailed diagrams and lists of spare parts are provided for SD, SDUS, ST, and STUS series, making it easy to identify and order replacement components when needed. This includes parts like impellers, O-rings, baskets, motors, and capacitors.
  • Warranty Information: The product comes with a limited warranty, covering defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. The warranty period begins on the day of purchase and extends only to the original purchaser. It is important to note that the warranty may be voided by improper installation, maintenance, or unauthorized repairs.

The Emaux SD & SDUS Series / ST & STUS Series pumps are robust and reliable solutions for maintaining clear and healthy swimming pool water, designed with user convenience and safety in mind.
