Chec king The Wake Up Times And Alarm Mo de
Whenever you want to check the wake up time or the alarm mode settings, simply
pr ess eith er the ALA RM 1 or ALARM 2 setting buttons. The displ ay will change
from correct time to wake up time and the DAY OF WEEK indicators will show you
the alarm mode which is currently selected.
Release the ALARM 1 or ALARM 2 setting buttons to return to correct time.
List ening To Th e Radio
1.) Pr ess the RAD IO ON /OF F but ton to t urn the radio 'O n'. The frequency of the
tuning frequency will show for a few seconds on the display.
2.) Set the BAND by pressing button to AM or FM as the desired, it toggles
each time you press the button.
3.) Set the VOLUME by pressing or to a level that is neither
too high nor too inaudible.
4.) Select your desired station with the TUNING control.
a) Pr ess slightly, t h e r e c e i v i n g f r e q u e n c y w i l l
incre ment or decrement by one step.
b) Press and hold for o n e seco n d then r e lease,
Auto Sta tion Seek ing will be enga ged, the receivi ng frequ ency wil l increment
or decrement automatically until a station with acceptable reception is found.
5.) Adjust the VOLUME control to the desired setting.
6.) Wh en you a re finis hed list ening, p ress the RA DIO O N/O FF bu tton to turn the
radio 'Off'.
Storing and Recalling Radio Station Memory
When you have a few favorite radio stations to listen to,you may like to save them,
and pick one out of them in a few seconds without needing to search it each time.
Our digital tuning technology allows you to do this easily by following the following
steps:

1.) Turn on the clock radio by pressing the RADIO ON/OFF button.
2.) Connect your iPod, MP3 player or other audio source from its earphone jack to
the clock radio AUX IN jack with a cable with 2 ends 3.5mm stereo plug.
3.) "AUX " in dica tor will lig ht o n wh ile AUX IN j ack is p lugg ed i n, a nd t he r adio
will change to AUX function.
4.) Start to play iPod, MP3 or other audio player, and set the player volume to maximum.
5.) Adjust the main unit volume to your desired level.

listening, and disconnect the cable from the AUX IN jack.
Rema rk:
Once the AUX IN jack is plugged in, the alarm sound will be buzzer sound only while
the alarm function is activated.

Storing to the Memory
1.) Make sure the radio is ON and the AM/FM band is selected.
2.) Tune to the desired station by the TUNING control as described.
3.) Press , "P XX" blinks, indicating the memory location to store the
currently listening station.
4.) While "P XX" is blinking, press /SET or /SET can change the
memory location from 1 through 10. For e.g.,"P 03"means the current listening
station is about to stored into the 3rd location of the memory.
5.) After deciding the memory location, press again, the currently listening
station is stored.
6.) The display will turn to the frequency of the stations afterwards, and after
a few seconds, the correct time shows.
Recalling Station from the Memory
1.) Make sure the radio is ON and the AM/FM band is selected.
2.) Press , "P XX" shows on the display, and the station according to the
memory location is tuned.
3.) While "P XX" is showing on the display, press /SET or /SE T
can change the memory location from 1 through 10, and the station stored in the
location is tuned once the location is changed to.
4.) The display will turn to the frequency of the stations afterwards, and after a
few seconds, the correct time shows.
Ante nna Information
AM - The AM bar antenna is inside the cabinet .If AM reception is weak ,change
the position of cabinet until the internal antenna picks up the strongest signal.
FM - The FM antenna is built in to the Line cord connecting the AC adapter.
If FM reception is weak try varying the position and direction of the Line cord
until you find the strongest signal.
Wak e To RADIO
1.) Turn the radio ‘On’ and select the band and station that you wish to hear
when the alarm comes ‘On’, then turn the radio ‘Off’ again.
2.) Rec onfi rm t he w ake up t ime and alar m mo de s etti ngs for the alar m yo u ar e
using, Alarm 1 , Alarm 2, or both alarms.
3.) Press ALARM 1 or ALARM 2 button slightly, and repeat doing so if necessary,
until ALARM 1 "RADIO" or ALARM 2 "RADIO" indicator is lit on the display.
4.) At the selected wake up time the radio will turn 'On'. It will begin softly and gradually
increase in volume to wake you up. It will continue for one hour and then shut off
automatically.
5.) To stop the radio sooner, press the RADIO ON/OFF button. The radio will stop
but the alarm remains set and will turn the radio on again at the same time on the
following day (depending on the Alarm Mode setting).
6.) If you do n ot w ant the alar m to tur n th e ra dio on t he f ollo wing day, pre ss t he
appropriate ALARM button until the ALARM indicator on the display is OFF.
Note: To a void mis sin g you r w ake u p t ime, eve n if you set the radi o t o a v ery low
volume or even silent (Level 0-9) before turning off the radio, medium radio volume

.) Press the SLEEP button.The display will briefly
show "10" and the radio will begin to play.
After 10 minutes countdown the radio will shut
off automatically. Ea ch time you press the SLEEP button the sleep timer will
start at 10 minutes. This is the sleep timer default setting.
2.) To i ncrease or decr e ase the amount o f time t hat the radio w i l l play b efore
shutting off, hold the SLEEP button and press either the
butto n to change the display to the desired sleep time, up to a maximum
of "90" minutes or a minimum of "02" minutes.
NOTE: When you change the sleep timer from the 10 minute default setting to a
di ffe rent set ting, th e new se tting be comes th e def aul t set tin g. Wh ene ver y ou
activate the sleep timer it will begin with your new default setting and count down
to zero from that point.
Slee p To Music Timer
You can program the sleep timer to play the radio for up to 90 minutes and then shut
'Off' automatically.

The DIMMER control was set to High position at our factory. If you find the clock display
is too bri ght in a darkene d room, set the Dimmer b y pressi ng SNOOZ E / SLEE P
/ DIMMER Button, when Radio is off.
Chan ging The Lithium Batt ery
Like all batteries, eventually the built in lithium battery will need to be replaced. A
num ber of f acto rs, such as, the len gth of t ime betw een the date the rad io w as
manufactured and the date you plugged it in for the first time determine the amount
of time before replacement. During this initial storage period, the lithium battery is
su pplying power to the Sma rtSet com puter me mory. Once you plug the radio in,
your household outlet supplies the power, and the battery is not being used. A fresh
lithium battery can supply power to the SmartSet computer for at least 2 years even
if it is never connected to an AC power supply. If your clock radio was connected to
your AC supply within a few months after it was manufactured, and you experience
only the normal, nuisance type, short duration power interruptions, your battery may
last for up to 5 years or even longer.
Wh en the battery po wer drops belo w a ce rtain level , the LOW BAT T.
indicator will 'Flash'. When you see this indicator, you should change the battery as
soon as it is convenient for you to do so. To change the battery proceed as follows:
1.) Pu rchase a replace ment 3V lithium battery wherever batteri es are s old . The
battery type is CR2032 or equivalent.
2.) Remove the battery from its package so it is ready to install.
IMPORTANT: Leave the AC ad apter connected to your AC outlet.

lithium battery is removed.
3.) Turn the radio face up and use a small screw driver to remove the screw securing
the battery holder to the cabinet.
BE CAREFUL NOT TO LOSE THIS SMALL SCREW!
4.) Remove the original battery from the holder and insert the new battery into the
holder the same way, observing the positive (+) direction. Slide the holder with
the new battery back into the slot in the cabinet.
5.) Replace the screw that secures the battery holder in the cabinet.

Rese tting The Clock After A Total Memo ry Loss
If you do not chan ge the b uilt in lithium battery within a reasona ble peri od of time
after you see the warning indicator, the lithium battery may become exhausted
and w i ll no l o nger b e able t o supply b ack up p ower t o the Sm a r tSet i nternal
computer. If the unit is disconnected from the AC outlet after the battery is exhausted,
or if a po wer inte rruption occurs, the Sma rtSet memory w ill be l ost and the cloc k
wi ll need to be re set when the pow er is re stored. Be sure to insta ll a fre sh lithi um
ba ttery be fore you reset t he clock , otherw ise the clock wi ll need to be re set each
time the power is interrupted.
If the lith ium batt ery is e xhau sted and you exp erie nce an i nter rupt ion in t he AC
power supply, the clock will reset itself to its initial default setting when the power is
restored.

If you not ice that the tim e on you r SmartS et clock radio is complet ely inco rrect,
an d the DAY O F WEE K indica tor is a lso wron g, press the MON TH/ DATE b utton to
see the date.
If the date display is showing "1. 1 " (January 1st),
you p r obably e xperie n c ed a t o t al mem o r y loss .
To reset the clock after a total memory loss, proceed
as follows:
1 .) Follow the instructions on page 11,12 and install a new CR2032 lithium battery
in the battery compartment.
2.) Connect the radio to your AC outlet and let the clock set itself.
3.) Depress the MONTH/DATE and TIME buttons together. The display will change
from 'Time' to 'Year'.
While hold ing in t he MONTH /DAT E and TI ME buttons, press the /SET
button to set the display to the correct year, then release the buttons.
4.) De p r e s s t h e MON T H / D A T E b u tto n . T h e d i s p la y w i ll c h a ng e f r om ' T i m e '
to 'Month/Date' (MM/DD).
While holding in the MONTH/DATE button, press the /SET button to set the
di splay to the correct Month and Date. The DAY OF WEEK indicator will change
automatically as you adjust the Month/Date settings. When the correct Month and
Date appear on th e display, release the buttons.
5.) Depr ess the TIM E but ton and the /SET button to set the display to the
correct Tim e. B e su re t o co nfir m th at y ou h ave set the time cor rect ly t o 'A M'
or 'PM' by observing the AM indicator.
6.) After you set the Time, rec onfi rm t hat the Day, and Mont h/Da te d ispl ays are
still correct. Make final adjustments if necessary.
The SmartSet clock memory is now reset and the new lithium battery will maintain
it for the next 5 years, depending on the number and duration of the power
outages you experience.

(Level 10) will gradually increase at wake up time. If you need a louder volume for
your wake up time, set the radio at higher volume (Level 10-16) before turning it off,
that will gradually increase the radio volume to the same preset level when wake up
time comes.
Wak e To BUZZER
NOTE: Alarm 1 and Ala rm 2 h av e different buzzer sounds.
• Alarm l is a "Single beep" sound. • Alarm 2 is a "Double beep" sound.
You will be able to tell which alarm is going off by the sound that it makes.

Snoo ze/Repeat Al arm
After the alarm turns 'On' in the morning you can SNOOZE/SLEEP OFF button on
the top cabinet for a few extra minutes sleep. The corresponding ALARM indicator
will flash. The alarm will stop for approximately 9 minutes and then comes 'On' again.
The Snooze operation may be repeated several times if desired but after one hour
the alarm will not come on again.
