Loading Paper
A
Flip the feeder guard, and then slide out the paper support and the output tray.

Load paper with the printable side face-up against the right side of the sheet
feeder.

Slide the edge guide against the paper, and ip the guard back.
Copying

Do not load paper above the H mark inside the edge guide.
Open the document cover and place your original face-down on the scanner
glass. Align the original with the front right corner of the glass.

Close the document cover.
Q
O Hold down one of the x buttons for 3 seconds to copy in draft
mode.
O Hold down y and press one of the x buttons to make 20 copies.
C
Press one of the x buttons to start copying.
Replacing Ink Cartridges
Prepare new ink cartridge(s). For best results, gently shake the new ink cartridge
four or ve times and then unpack.

Open the scanner unit with the document cover closed.
Remove only the yellow tape.

Press y again to move the print head to the ink cartridge replacement position.
Insert the new ink cartridge and press it down rmly.
Squeeze the tab on the ink cartridge and lift it out.

Close the scanner unit.

Press y. Charging ink is started.
Charging ink takes about 2 minutes. Wait until the light stops ashing.

Print a nozzle check pattern to check if the print head nozzles are clogged.
Turn o the printer, and then turn it back on while holding down y.
If you notice any missing segments or broken lines as shown in (b), go to
step B.

If you see missing segments or broken lines in your printouts, try
the following solutions.

Run the print head cleaning. Hold down y for 3 seconds until the power light
starts ashing.
The cleaning uses some ink from all cartridges, so run the cleaning only if print
quality declines on your prints.
Operate the printer’s buttons to move the print head.
O If the B light is on
Press the y button. The expended ink cartridge moves to the
icon. If there
are more expended ink cartridges, the cartridge moves to the icon every
time you press the y button.
O If the B light ashes
Press the y button for six seconds until the print head moves. The ink
cartridge that is running low moves to the
icon. If there are more ink
cartridges running low, the cartridge moves to the icon every time you
press the y button.
O If the B light is o
Press the y button for six seconds until the print head moves. The print
head moves to the ink cartridge replacement position. Proceed to step 4.

Never touch the ink cartridges while the print head is moving.
