NOTE: Magnetic North may deviate from
True North, as shown on maps, by as much
as 10 degrees. This difference, known as the
“declination angle”, depends on where on
the earth’s surface the compass is used. A
professional compass device/instrument can
be calibrated to compensate for this declina-
tion angle. The tolerance factor for the com-
pass feature on your ESQ SWISS timepiece
is +/- 10 degrees from True North.
NOTE: It is important, for accuracy, to keep a
compass level when taking readings.
CAUTION: A compass is very sensitive to
magnetic fields. The accuracy of the com-
pass reading may be affected when the com-
pass is in proximity to sources of magnetic
fields, such as magnets, loudspeakers, com-
puters, televisions, radios, appliances and hi-
tension electric cables. Do not store your
