This document describes the EWT SNOWAIR9HE / SNOWAIR12HE portable air conditioner, which is suitable for well-insulated spaces or occasional use. It complies with European product safety, electromagnetic compatibility, and environmental standards (LVD, EMC, RoHS, and Eco design directives).
Function Description
The EWT SNOWAIR9HE / SNOWAIR12HE is a portable air conditioner designed for cooling, heating, dehumidifying, and fan-only operation. It uses R290 propane gas as a refrigerant.
Operating Modes:
- Air Conditioning Mode: Ideal for cooling rooms in warm weather. The temperature can be set between 18°C and 32°C (64°F-90°F).
- Heating Mode: For warming rooms. The temperature can be set between 13°C and 27°C (55°F-81°F). Heating activates only if the selected temperature is higher than the ambient room temperature.
- Dehumidifier Mode: Reduces humidity in a room, suitable for spring, autumn, damp rooms, or rainy periods. Requires continuous drainage via the drainage pipe.
- Fan Mode: Circulates air without cooling or heating.
Key Features:
- LED Screen: Displays current settings and error messages.
- Control Panel: Touch-sensitive panel on top of the unit for basic function control.
- Remote Control: Provides full access to all functions, including oscillation, night mode, timer, and temperature unit modification (°C or °F).
- Oscillation: Vertical oscillation of the air deflector for air flow adjustment (up/down).
- Night Mode (Sleep Mode): Reduces appliance consumption and screen brightness. In air conditioning mode, the selected temperature increases by 1°C per hour over two hours and then maintains it for six hours before switching off. In dehumidification mode, it operates in the previously selected mode. Not available in fan mode.
- Timer: Allows delayed start or stop of the appliance (1-24 hours) to optimize energy consumption.
- Automatic ECO Speed: The appliance automatically adjusts fan speed based on the selected temperature for energy efficiency.
- In cooling: Fast speed if room temperature is 2°C or more above selected, medium if 1°C above, slow if equal or below.
- In heating: Fast speed if room temperature is above 25°C, normal if between 23°C and 25°C, slow if below 23°C.
- Frost Prevention (Anti-gel): Automatically activates in low room temperatures, interrupting normal fan operation and displaying "Lt" on the screen. The appliance will resume normal operation after defrosting.
- Self-Diagnosis System: Identifies malfunctions and displays error messages (e.g., "PF" for probe failure, "FE" for full tank, "Lt" for low temperature).

Usage Features
Installation:
- Place on a stable, flat, and robust surface, maintaining at least 45 cm clearance from walls and objects for proper air circulation.
- For air conditioning mode, the hot air exhaust tube must be connected to a window or opening to vent hot air outside.
- The window kit is designed for most vertical and horizontal sliding windows. It may require modifications for specific window types and can be secured with screws.
- Ensure the exhaust tube is unfolded to the minimum required length, without sharp bends or sagging.
Operation:
- Plug the appliance into an earthed socket to switch to standby mode.
- Press the On/Off button to turn on the appliance. It will resume the last used function.
- To switch off, always press the On/Off button and wait a few minutes before unplugging to allow the appliance to perform automatic checks.
- Temperature unit can be changed between °C and °F by pressing the "M" button on the remote control for 20 seconds while the appliance is in standby mode.
Water Drainage:
- Manual Drainage: When the internal tank is full (indicated by "FE" on the screen), the appliance stops. Unplug the unit, place a recipient under the drainage cap, remove the cap, drain the water, replace the cap, and restart the unit.
- Continuous Drainage: Recommended for dehumidification mode. Unplug the unit, remove the drainage cap (some water may escape), connect the 2m drainage pipe, and direct it to a drain, bucket, or sink. Ensure the drainage pipe is not higher than the drainage outlet and has no kinks.
Optimizing Efficiency:
- Close windows and doors of the room being cooled.
- For semi-permanent installation, leave a door slightly open (at least 1 cm) for correct ventilation.
- Protect the room from direct sunlight by closing curtains/blinds.
- Do not place objects on or block air intake/outlet grills.
- Ensure no heat sources are in the room.
- Avoid using in very damp rooms (e.g., laundry rooms) or outdoors.
- Ensure the appliance is level and lock the wheels if necessary.
Maintenance Features
Cleaning:
- Always unplug the appliance before cleaning.
- Clean the surface with a soft, damp cloth. For very dirty surfaces, use a non-corrosive cleaning product.
- Do not use corrosive detergents, solvents, chemicals, abrasive sponges, scouring pads, or hard brushes.
- Do not immerse the main body in water.
- Ensure electrical components do not come into contact with water.
Filter Maintenance:
- Clean the air inlet filter regularly (monthly recommended, weekly for efficient operation) to prevent dust accumulation and maintain blower function.
- The evaporator filter can be removed (refer to figures 22-25 in the manual).
- Use a vacuum cleaner to remove dust from the filter. For very dirty filters, wash them in hot water (not exceeding 40°C / 104°F) and rinse several times. Allow to dry completely before reattaching.
Storage:
- If not used for a long period, pack it carefully and store it in a dry, ventilated, dust-free area.
End of Season Operations:
- Completely drain the internal water circuit by removing the cap (refer to figure 21 in the manual) and letting all water flow into a basin. Replace the cap once drained.
- Clean and dry the filter completely before reinstalling it.
Battery Replacement (Remote Control):
- The remote control uses a CR2025 3V battery.
- To replace, insert a safety pin or fine-tipped accessory into the hole on the lid and pull the lid to remove it. Replace the old battery with a new CR2025 battery, then correctly replace the lid.
Safety Information:
- The appliance contains R290 refrigerant. Do not pierce or burn any components of the cooling circuit.
- Do not install, operate, or store in a room with a floor area smaller than 4m² (for 10L/12L models) or 7m² (for 14L models).
- Repairs must be performed by qualified personnel according to manufacturer recommendations.
- Do not use the appliance if the ambient temperature is below 5°C, as the evaporating coil may ice up.
- Keep batteries out of reach of children. Seek medical advice if a battery is swallowed.
- Do not use with extension leads or external switching devices (timers, remote adapters) due to high current consumption and potential overheating/fire risk.
- Do not cover the appliance or obstruct air inlets/outlets.
- Keep combustible materials at least 1m away from the air outlet.
- The water collected in the tank is not suitable for consumption.
- Regularly clean and empty the water tank (at least every three days) to prevent microbial growth.
- Wait 3 minutes after the unit stops before restarting to protect the compressor.
Disposal:
- Dispose of the appliance at an appropriate collection point for WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) in accordance with European Directive 2012/19/EU.
- Dispose of used batteries safely.
