Overview

The Exodus Lift II is a trail camera designed for outdoor use, primarily for hunting and wildlife monitoring. It is built to capture still images and videos, offering a range of features to optimize its performance in various environments. The camera is housed in a camouflage casing, making it blend in with natural surroundings.

Function Description:

The primary function of the Exodus Lift II is to automatically capture photos or videos of wildlife based on motion and heat detection. It operates through a Passive Infrared (PIR) sensor that triggers the camera when movement and heat signatures are detected within its range. The camera can be set to different modes: Photo, Video, Time Lapse, and Hybrid. In Photo mode, it captures still images, while Video mode records video clips. Time Lapse mode allows the camera to take a series of photos at predetermined intervals throughout the day, regardless of motion. Hybrid mode combines both photo and video capture, taking a still image followed by a video clip upon activation.

The camera is equipped with an LED IR Flash Unit for night vision, enabling it to capture clear images and videos in low-light conditions without scaring away wildlife. Indicator LEDs provide visual feedback on the camera's status. A 2-inch view screen allows users to navigate the menu, adjust settings, and review captured images and videos directly on the device.

Usage Features:

The Exodus Lift II offers a user-friendly interface with several buttons for navigation and control. The On/Off/Test Toggle Switch has three positions: "On" initiates a startup countdown, arming the camera for operation; "Off" shuts down the camera; and "Setup" puts the camera into setup/aim mode, where users can access the menu and perform test functions.

The Menu button opens the camera's settings menu when in "Setup" mode. Directional keys (Up, Down, Left, Right) are used to navigate through the menu options. The "Up" directional key also doubles as the "Playback" button for reviewing pictures in test mode. The Enter button serves as a selection key within the menu and can also be used to take a test photo in test mode. An Eject button is provided to easily remove the battery tray.

Setting up the camera involves installing 8 AA batteries (lithium recommended for optimal performance, especially in cold weather) into the battery tray and inserting an SD card (up to 32GB, Class 4 or higher recommended) until it clicks into place. Once powered on in "Setup" mode, users can format the SD card through the menu, which is recommended every time a new card is inserted.

Aiming the camera is facilitated by the "Setup" mode. Users can walk through the target area, and a red indicator light will blink when motion is detected, helping to determine the optimal placement. A test photo can be taken by pressing the "Enter" button, and then reviewed using the "Up" directional key.

The camera offers extensive customization through its menu settings:

  • Mode: Selects between Photo, Video, Time Lapse, or Hybrid.
  • Set Clock: Allows setting the internal clock (month/day/year and hours/minutes) in either 24-hour military format or standard AM/PM format.
  • Image Size: Adjusts the resolution of still photos (2M, 5M, 8M, or 12M Megapixels).
  • Burst Count: Determines the number of photos taken per trigger (1 to 9 photos).
  • Video Size: Sets the resolution of video recordings (1280x720 30FPS or 1920x1080 30FPS).
  • Video Length: Specifies the duration of video clips (5 to 90 seconds).
  • Time Format: Toggles between 24-hour and 12-hour (AM/PM) time display.
  • Trigger Delay: Sets the delay between consecutive triggers, ranging from 1 second to 1 hour.
  • Trigger Sensitivity: Adjusts the detection sensitivity (Low, Medium, High) to suit different environments and minimize false triggers. Low sensitivity makes it harder to trigger, ideal for larger animals, while High sensitivity offers a longer detection distance (up to 60 feet) and can pick up smaller animals. Medium is a balanced setting for most applications.
  • IR Flash Range: Allows adjusting the flash intensity (Low, Medium, High) for different lighting conditions and desired stealth. Low is suitable for close-up shots, while Medium and High are recommended for open fields.
  • Time Lapse: Configures the interval between photos when in time lapse mode.
  • Operating Hours: Sets specific start and end times for the camera to be active, allowing users to define when the camera will run.
  • Time Stamp: Enables or disables the info strip at the bottom of each photo, which typically includes date, time, and other camera information.
  • Temperature: Switches between Fahrenheit and Celsius temperature scales for display.
  • Frequency: Sets the recording frequency to 50Hz or 60Hz.
  • Camera Name: Allows users to assign a name (1-11 letters or numbers) to the camera, which will appear on the info strip.
  • Password Enable: Provides an option to set a 5-digit passcode to secure access to the camera's settings.
  • Coordinates: Enables GPS geotagging of photos by allowing users to enter camera coordinates.

Retrieving and viewing pictures can be done in three ways:

  1. Removing the SD Card: The SD card can be removed (after turning the camera off) and inserted into an SD card reader on a laptop, tablet, or field viewer to download images.
  2. USB Download: The camera can be connected to a computer via the provided USB cable to directly download pictures.
  3. In-Camera Playback: In "Setup" mode, pressing the "Up" directional key loads images onto the 2-inch view screen, and the left/right directional keys can be used to scroll through them.

Maintenance Features:

The Exodus Lift II is designed for durability and ease of maintenance.

  • Battery Information: The camera is designed to operate with 8 AA batteries. Energizer Lithium AA Batteries are highly recommended due to their superior performance in cold temperatures (down to -30F) and longer lifespan (2 to 2.5 times more pictures compared to alkaline batteries). Alkaline batteries may perform poorly below 10F and can cause issues as their charge drops below 50%. While some rechargeable batteries may work, caution is advised, and batteries exceeding 1.7V should not be used. Battery malfunction due to incorrect battery use is not covered under warranty.
  • External Power: The Lift II is compatible with a 12V/1A external power source. Exodus plans to release an official external battery, power supply, and solar panel, but users are advised to be cautious with third-party options and ensure they meet the specified requirements.
  • SD Card Requirements: The camera supports major American SD card brands up to 32GB. A Class 4 or higher card is recommended for optimal performance with high-resolution photos and videos. It is crucial to never change the SD card while the camera is on to prevent data corruption or damage.
  • Formatting: Regular formatting of the SD card through the camera's menu is recommended every time a new card is inserted. This prepares the card for use with the camera but will erase any existing images on the card.
  • Default Set: The "Default Set" option in the menu allows users to reset the camera to its factory default settings, which can be useful for troubleshooting or starting fresh with settings.
  • System (Firmware Update): The "System" menu provides information on the current firmware version and allows for firmware updates. This feature is primarily used for technical support and ensuring the camera has the latest software enhancements.

Warranty and Support:

Exodus offers a comprehensive 5-year warranty for the Lift II. This warranty covers repairs or replacements for cameras that stop working under normal use, free of charge. Additionally, if the camera is stolen or accidentally damaged within the first 5 years, Exodus offers a replacement camera at 50% off the full retail price (one per purchase). To validate the warranty, the camera must be registered within 30 days of purchase.

Warranty exclusions include damage from incorrect installations, abuse, alterations not performed by Exodus, poor handling, misuse, accidents, abnormal use, shock, power failures/surges, battery failure, lightning, or weather-related conditions. It also does not cover products with altered or removed serial numbers, cosmetic wear, depreciation, or damage/loss during transportation. However, the 5-year theft/accidental damage policy covers some of these scenarios.

For support, users can contact Exodus by texting "Call" to 330-400-3034. During normal business hours (Mon-Fri, 8 AM-6 PM EST), a callback is typically received within 5 minutes. Support is also available outside these hours. To make a warranty claim, users should contact customer support via phone or email (info@exodusoutdoorgear.com) to receive a return label. Once the camera is received and the problem verified, it will either be repaired or a new unit shipped.
