Summit WM3000 Series Controller System Reference Guide 53
Viewing Controller Port Information
The Port screen displays configuration, runtime status and statistics of the ports on the controller.
The ports available vary by controller platform.
Summit WM3600: ge1, ge2, ge3, ge4, ge5, ge6, ge7, ge8, me1, up1
Summit WM3700: ge1, ge2, ge3, ge4, me1
The port types are defined as follows:
The Port screen contains three tabs supporting the following port assessment activities:
● Viewing the Port Configuration
● Viewing the Ports Runtime Status
● Reviewing Port Statistics
Viewing the Port Configuration
The Configuration tab displays the current configuration for the controller ports. Use the port
configuration information to determine whether an existing port configuration can be used as is or
requires modification for use within the controller managed network.
GE#
Gigabit Ethernet (GE) ports are available on the Summit WM3600 and
Summit WM3700 platforms. GE ports on the Summit WM3600 are RJ-
45 which support 10/100/1000Mbps. GE ports on the Summit WM3700
can be RJ-45 or fiber ports which support 10/100/1000Mbps.
ME#
Management Ethernet (ME) ports are available on the Summit WM3600
and Summit WM3700 platforms. ME ports are out-of-band management
ports which can be used to manage the controller via CLI or Web UI even
when the other ports on the controller are unreachable. The Summit
WM3700 does not support MDI/MDI-X on the management port.
UP#
An uplink (UP) port is available on the Summit WM3600 platform only.
This port is used to connect the Summit WM3600 to the backbone
network. The UP port on the Summit WM3600 supports either RJ-45 or
fiber. The UP port is the preferred way to connect to the backbone as it
has a non-blocking 1gbps connection unlike the ge1-8 ports.
