Overview

This document describes a range of built-in electric and induction hobs from Fabiano. The hobs are designed for domestic use and come with various features to enhance cooking convenience and safety.

Function Description:

The hobs feature multiple heating zones, which can be either electric or induction, depending on the model. Induction models utilize magnetic induction coils to heat cookware directly, offering efficient and precise temperature control. Some induction models include a "Booster" function, which temporarily increases the power of a cooking zone for rapid heating, useful for tasks like boiling water quickly. Certain models, such as the FHBI 3201 Lux, offer "Flexible Areas" that can be used as a single large zone or two independent zones, adapting to different cookware sizes and cooking needs.

All models are equipped with a control panel, typically featuring touch controls. These controls allow users to select heating zones, adjust heating levels (from 0 to 9), and set timers. Some models incorporate a "Stop & Go" function, which pauses all active cooking zones and holds their settings, allowing the user to temporarily leave the kitchen and resume cooking later with a single touch. A "Child Lock" safety control is also present to prevent unintended use, especially by children, by disabling most touch buttons.

Safety features include pan detection for induction hobs, which automatically turns off a cooking zone if no suitable pan is present or if the pan is too small or improperly centered. A "Residual Heat Warning" (indicated by "H") alerts users to hot surfaces after cooking, which can also be utilized for energy saving by using residual heat for further cooking. Over-heat protection monitors the internal temperature of the hob and automatically stops operation if it becomes excessive. Over-flow protection automatically shuts off the power if liquid boils over or a wet cloth covers the control panel, disabling buttons until the area is dry.

Important Technical Specifications:

The hobs are designed for built-in installation, requiring a minimum distance of 20 mm between the stovetop and any furniture or cutlery drawer underneath. Electrical connection variants are provided for hobs with 2, 3, and 4 heating zones, accommodating different voltage requirements (220-240V~ or 400V~). It is crucial to ensure proper grounding and that the supply cord does not come into contact with the hob or oven housing.

For induction models, specific cookware requirements apply: only ferromagnetic cookware with a flat base is suitable. Recommended pan diameters vary by cooking zone, with minimums ranging from 140 mm for 160 mm zones to 230 mm for 280 mm zones. Flexible zones accommodate cookware up to 400 x 200 mm. Pans with diameters less than 140 mm may not be detected by the induction hob.

The appliance complies with the 2014/30/EC (Electro-magnetic Compliance) and 2014/35/EC (Low Voltage Devices) Directives. Energy efficiency is tested according to standard EN 60350-2, with values available on the appliance's rating plate.

Usage Features:

  • Touch Controls: The controls are touch-sensitive, requiring only a light touch with the ball of the finger. A beep confirms each touch. It is important to keep the control panel clean and dry for optimal operation.
  • Starting Cooking: After connecting to electricity, the hob is turned on by pressing and holding the ON/OFF button for about 3 seconds. The hob enters Standby mode, and users can then place suitable cookware and set the desired heating level.
  • Adjusting Heating Levels: For models like SVH 646, dedicated "+" and "-" buttons adjust the heating level for each zone. For other models, users select a cooking zone and then use a slider control to set the heating level.
  • Timer Function: The timer can be used as a minute minder (without turning off cooking zones) or to automatically switch off one or more cooking zones. It can be set for up to 99 minutes. Setting the timer involves touching the timer control button and adjusting the digits using "+"/"-" buttons or a slider.
  • Booster Function (Induction Hobs): To activate, select a cooking zone and then touch the Booster function control button. The zone indicator will show "b" and flash, then become active. Note that if another vertically aligned cooking zone is operating above level 2, its power setting will automatically reduce to level 2 when Booster is active. This rule does not apply to the SIH 540, where all zones can be boosted simultaneously.
  • Flexible Area (FHBI 3201 Lux): To activate as a single large zone, press either of the two cooking zone selection buttons, then the flexible area control button. The indicator above the flexible area control button will light up, and the power level indicator will flash, allowing adjustment via the slider. To deactivate, press the flexible control button again when the power level indicator is flashing.
  • Child Lock: Touch the Child Lock control button once to activate, displaying "Lo" on the timer indicator. To unlock, touch and hold the button for 3 seconds.
  • Safety Switch Off: If a heating zone is left on for an extended period without adjustment, the appliance will automatically disconnect after a set time, depending on the power level.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning: The appliance should be cleaned once it has cooled down, using suitable products and implements. Light dirt can be cleaned with a damp cloth and gentle detergent. For deeper stains or grease, a special cleaner for ceramic hot plates is recommended. Never use harsh cleaning products or tools that could scratch the surface, or steam-operated equipment.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides a "Failure Inspection for hob" section with common error codes (e.g., E1/E2 for abnormal supply voltage, E3 for high pan sensor temperature, E5 for high IGBT temperature sensor) and corresponding solutions. For other error codes, users are advised to switch off the hob and contact service.
  • Environmental Considerations: The product is marked with a symbol indicating it should not be treated as ordinary household waste. It should be taken to a recycling collection point for electrical and electronic waste, in accordance with local environmental regulations. Packaging materials are recyclable.
