The Famous Trails Metal Detector might be giving false signals because the sensitivity is set too high. Try adjusting the SENSITIVITY. Also, ensure you are not sweeping the search coil too fast or at the wrong angle. Sweep the search coil more slowly and hold the detector correctly. The detector might also be reacting to heavily oxidized metals. Try pinpointing the target from different angles; if the signal varies, it's likely oxidized metal.
