The Feniex Hammer S-3017 is a low-frequency siren designed to enhance the audibility of emergency vehicles. It functions as a standalone speaker utilizing internal tones or can integrate with an external siren amplifier to rebroadcast tones in a low-frequency mode. The device is robustly constructed with an IP67 rating, indicating high resistance to dust and water ingress, making it suitable for demanding automotive environments.
The primary function of the Feniex Hammer S-3017 is to produce powerful low-frequency siren tones, designed to be felt as much as heard, hence the tagline "FEEL THE NOISE." This capability is crucial for emergency vehicles to alert drivers and pedestrians more effectively, especially in situations where high-frequency sounds might be masked by ambient noise or vehicle insulation. The unit can operate in two main modes:
Standalone Siren: In this mode, the Hammer S-3017 utilizes its seven integrated siren tones. Users can select from tones such as Wail, Mechanical, Hi-Lo, Hammer, Silent/Remote Siren, Phaser, and Yelp. These tones are activated by applying 12V (+) power to either the yellow wire (Mode 1) or brown wire (Mode 2) connected to individual latching switches. The tone selection itself is managed by momentarily tapping the blue "Tone Changer" wire to the positive terminal.
External Siren Amplifier Integration: The Hammer S-3017 can be connected to an existing external siren amplifier. In this configuration, the green and gray wires of the Hammer are connected to the speaker output wires of the external siren amplifier. When an active siren tone is detected from the external amplifier, the Hammer S-3017 will override its internal tones and rebroadcast the external siren's tones in a low-frequency mode. This feature allows the Hammer to augment existing siren systems, providing a deeper, more penetrating sound. By default, Mode 1 is set to a "silent tone" for seamless integration with external siren amplifiers, though a silent tone is also available for Mode 2 if desired.
The device is designed for optimal sound projection when the front of the unit is facing forward and the speaker grille is facing downward. Sideward facing mounting is also possible with the speaker grille facing downward.
