Types of MDS systems
We can distinguish 3 types of MDS system: Digital, Direct and City which basically differ in terms of their:
a) Central Unit.
b) Type of Entry Panel
c) Capacity to manage residences and access points.
d) Additional functionsincorporated: Access, Security, Automation and Lift Control.
e) Number of buses (cabling).
MDS DIGITAL
It is the most complete system, with the greatest capacity and incorporating most additional functions. Recommended
for both independent buildings and residential complexes combined with other systems (MDS Direct, MDS City or
ADS/VDS).
a) Requires a Central Unit:
The MDS Digital system requires a Central Unit.
b) Panel with keypad and electronic directory:
The Central Unit has an electronic directory with capacity for 1022 users, which are shown on the panel’s
display. It also has search and call keys (bell) which allow the user to locate residents’ names, their apartment
number and then make the call. You can also call the user directly, entering the residence number on the
keypad incorporated into the panel.
c) Capacity: for large buildings and medium and large developments.
Recommended for:
- Individual Buildings: One central unit can control up to 9,999 homes and 32 accesses (between audio or
video panels, access control readers and guard units- up to a maximum of 10 guard units).
- In residential complexes:
- Combined with other MDS Digital panels the capacity is practically unlimited in interior blocks. Up to 63
Central Units can be connected.Incorporates all the aforementioned MDS services. Capacity per C.U..:
9999 residences, 31 accesses, (between panels and guard units, etc.), and can be used in a general
entrance or interior block.
- Combined with MDS Direct and City systemsin the interior blocks it allows systems be fitted with a
practically unlimited number of general entrances and residences.
