Why does the flame keep going out on my Fire Island Outdoor Fireplace?
    • E
      Edwin HarrisonAug 20, 2025
The flame on your Fire Island Outdoor Fireplace might be going out due to several reasons. High or gusting winds can extinguish the flame, so avoid using the fire pit in such conditions. Also, check if you're low on LP gas and exchange, refill, or replace the tank if necessary. Another possibility is that the excess flow valve has tripped; in this case, refer to the section on “Sudden drop in gas flow or reduced flame height”. Lastly, if the thermocouple isn't operating correctly, disconnect the LP gas tank, clean around the thermocouple, reconnect the tank, and try relighting.

Why is the flame yellow or orange on my Fire Island Winston Outdoor Fireplace?
    • J
      jefferyfosterAug 26, 2025
A yellow or orange flame in your Fire Island Outdoor Fireplace can be attributed to a few factors. If it's a new burner, residual manufacturing oils may be present; burn the fire pit for 15 minutes and then reinspect the flame. Spider webs or insect nests in the burner/venturi tube can also cause this issue, so clean the burner/venturi tube. Lastly, poor alignment of the valve to the burner/venturi tube can be the culprit; ensure the burner/venturi tube is properly engaged with the valve.

How to resolve an irregular flame pattern on a Fire Island Winston Outdoor Fireplace?
    • A
      Alan AlvarezAug 30, 2025
An irregular flame pattern, where the flame doesn't run the full length of the burner on your Fire Island Outdoor Fireplace, is typically due to clogged or blocked burner ports. Cleaning the burner ports should resolve this issue.

How to fix Fire Island Outdoor Fireplace burner that won't light with igniter?
    • R
      rebeccastewartNov 4, 2025
If the burner of your Fire Island Outdoor Fireplace doesn't light with the igniter, several factors could be the cause. First, ensure the LP gas tank valve is open and the regulator is securely attached. If the tank is low or empty, exchange, refill, or replace it. Check for LP gas leaks; if present, close the tank valve, wait five minutes, and follow the leak-checking procedure. A dead battery can also prevent ignition, so replace the AA battery. If the electrode and burners are wet, wipe them dry. For issues like a cracked electrode, loose wire, shorting wire or bad igniter, replacement parts may be needed, and you should contact Customer Care at 888.398.8643. Lastly, if the thermocouple isn't working correctly, disconnect the LP gas tank, clean around the thermocouple, reconnect the tan...

What to do if Fire Island Outdoor Fireplace burner won't light with a match?
    • P
      penny79Nov 10, 2025
If the burner of your Fire Island Outdoor Fireplace doesn't light with a match, there could be several reasons. First, check if the LP gas tank is empty and exchange, refill, or replace it if needed. If the tank isn't empty, there might be an obstruction of gas flow; clear the burner/venturi tube and check for any bent or kinked hoses. Also, ensure the coupling nut and regulator are fully connected—tighten the coupling nut by hand until it stops, but do not use tools. Other potential issues include disengagement of the burner to valve (re-engage burner and valve), spider webs or insect nests in the burner/venturi tube (clean the burner/venturi tube), or clogged burner ports (clean burner ports). If there's an LP gas leak, close the tank valve, wait 5 minutes, and follow the leak checking s...

Why is there a sudden drop in gas flow or reduced flame height in my Fire Island Winston?
    • J
      Joshua SmithNov 14, 2025
A sudden drop in gas flow or reduced flame height in your Fire Island Outdoor Fireplace can occur for a couple of reasons. The most common is simply running out of gas; in this case, exchange, refill, or replace the LP gas tank. Alternatively, the overfilling prevention device may have been activated. To resolve this, turn the control knob to “OFF”, wait 30 seconds, and light the fire pit. If the flames are still too low, reset the overfilling prevention device by turning the control knob “OFF”, closing the LP gas tank valve, disconnecting the LP gas tank from the regulator, turning the control knob to (HIGH), waiting two minutes, turning the control knob to “OFF”, reconnecting the LP gas tank to the regulator (leak check connections, being careful not to fully open valve), and then lighti...
