This document describes the Jackson Round Aluminum LPG Fire Pit from Fire Sense, a product designed for outdoor decorative gas appliance use.
Function Description
The Jackson Round Aluminum LPG Fire Pit is a combustion appliance that provides heat and ambiance for outdoor spaces. It operates on Liquid Propane (LPG) gas, delivered via a standard 20lb propane cylinder (sold separately). The fire pit features an electronic igniter for easy startup, which requires one AAA battery (not included). Assembly:
- Requires two people for assembly.
- Estimated assembly time: 60 minutes.
- Hardware is included, with extra pieces provided for common components like studs, washers, and nuts.
- The igniter button needs to be unscrewed to install a AAA battery (positive end facing out).
- Fire glass is poured around the burner, taking care not to obstruct the pilot light housing.
- A removable burner cover is included.
- The propane cylinder connects to the fire pit via a hose and regulator assembly (supplied with the appliance).
Operation:
- Leak Check: Mandatory before first use and whenever gas connections are loosened or removed. Performed outdoors with a soap and water solution.
- Lighting:
- Turn the control knob to "OFF."
- Fully open the LP cylinder valve. For initial start or after a cylinder change, hold the control knob IN for 2 minutes to purge air from gas lines.
- Push in and turn the control knob counterclockwise to "HIGH."
- While holding the control knob in, push the Electronic Ignition button to ignite the main burner.
- After the fire pit lights, wait 45 seconds, then release the control knob.
- Flame height should be between 3 and 13 inches.
- To decrease the flame, turn the control knob clockwise to "LOW." To increase, turn counterclockwise to "HIGH."
- Shut Down:
- Depress the control knob and turn it clockwise to "OFF."
- Turn the cylinder valve clockwise to "OFF" and disconnect the regulator when not in use.
- Safety Precautions:
- Keep solid combustibles at least 2 feet from sides/rear and 6 feet from top.
- Never store propane near high heat, open flames, or ignition sources.
- Propane vapors are heavier than air; if gas is smelled, leave the area immediately.
- Do not install or remove a propane cylinder while the fire pit is hot or lit.
- Never leave the fire pit unattended when hot or in use.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Do not sit, stand, or lean heavily on the fire pit top to prevent bending or warping.
- Do not use in windy conditions (wind velocity below 10mph is recommended).
- The unit will operate at reduced efficiency below 40°F.
Natural Gas Conversion:
- Requires a licensed gas fitter for installation and leak testing.
- Involves replacing the propane orifice with a natural gas orifice (supplied in the conversion kit) and replacing the LPG hose and regulator with an NG regulator and hose (not included).
- A conversion label must be placed inside the tank access door.
- The gas supply line must be purged of trapped air prior to first firing.
