Overview

This document describes the FitEngine Crosstrainer, a training device designed for fitness and conditioning.

Function Description

The FitEngine Crosstrainer is intended for fitness and conditioning training. It features a training computer that displays various metrics such as speed, training time, body mass index (BMI), distance traveled, basal metabolic rate (BMR), calories consumed, current room temperature, heartbeats per minute, body fat percentage, user profile number, height, weight, and age.

The training computer can be activated by pressing any button or by moving the pedals. It includes several buttons for navigation and setting:

  • MODE: Activates/deactivates setting mode and switches between displays.
  • UP/RECOVERY: In setting mode, increases values or switches options. During training, it starts/ends the pulse recovery test.
  • DOWN: Decreases values or switches options.
  • RESET/GO: In setting mode, resets the selected value. In body fat function, starts body fat calculation. At a standstill, resets all data.
  • BODYFAT: Switches to the body fat function.

The device allows users to set individual training goals (e.g., time targets) and perform a body fat analysis. The pulse recovery test measures how quickly the heart rate recovers after exercise, categorizing fitness into 6 levels (F1-F6). The torque resistance can be adjusted from level 1 to 10 using the adjusting dial (+/-).

  • Compliance: EN ISO 20957-1 and DIN EN 20957-9.

Usage Features

Assembly: The device requires assembly by two people. It involves mounting the base supports, connecting the wires and cables, attaching the middle rod, pedal rails, axis, handle poles, pedals, handles, handlebar, and finally the training computer. Specific tools (Allen bolts, spring washers, regular washers, nuts, spanners, multifunctional tool, Allen keys, cross-head screws) are provided. Users are advised to protect delicate floor coverings during assembly.

Positioning: The crosstrainer should be placed on a dry, flat, stable, and non-slip surface. A non-slip mat is recommended for delicate floor coverings. Sufficient clearance space (at least 1 meter to the sides, 2 meters above) is required for safe movement during training. An additional 0.6 m clearance is needed in the direction of access for emergency dismount. The front base support has castors for easy relocation.

Battery Insertion: Two 1.5 V AAA batteries (not supplied) are required for the training computer. Batteries should be inserted with correct polarity into the compartment on the back of the computer. Old or leaking batteries should be removed immediately.

Training:

  1. Setup: Ensure all parts are securely fastened. Move the pedal on the climbing side to the lowest position. Hold a handle or the handlebar and step onto the pedal, then place the other foot on the other pedal.
  2. Start: Grip both handles, shift weight alternately, and begin training. The training computer switches on as pedals move.
  3. Posture: Stand upright with a straight back, shoulders slightly down and back. For pulse measurement, place palms on the pulse monitors.
  4. Resistance: Adjust torque resistance (levels 1-10) with the adjusting dial. Start slowly after warm-up and gradually increase intensity.
  5. Cool-down: End training with a slow pace and low resistance, followed by stretching exercises.
  6. Advanced Use: Advanced users can train without holding handles to improve balance. Pedaling backward is also an option to promote blood circulation.

Safety Notices:

  • Regularly check the device for damage. Stop training immediately if unusual noises occur or if the device is damaged.
  • Keep accessories and packaging away from children and animals (choking hazard).
  • The heart rate monitoring system may be inaccurate; stop training if performance decreases unusually.
  • The device does not have a freewheel; reduce speed gradually to stop.
  • Always step onto the pedal in the lowest position.
  • Not intended for use by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities without supervision.
  • Pregnant women should consult a doctor before use.
  • Consult a doctor for health concerns (e.g., cardiovascular, orthopedic problems) before use.
  • The training device is not a toy; supervise children to prevent misuse.
  • Battery acid is corrosive; avoid contact with skin/eyes/mucous membranes. Seek medical attention if swallowed or in case of contact.

Maintenance Features

Cleaning:

  • Do not use abrasive or corrosive cleaning agents.
  • Clean the device with a damp, soft cloth and mild detergent if necessary.
  • Dry all parts with a dry, soft cloth.

Storage:

  • Store the training device in a clean, dry, frost-free place, protected from direct sunlight.
  • Keep out of reach of children and animals.

Disposal:

  • Dispose of packaging materials environmentally friendly.
  • Remove batteries from the training computer before disposal and dispose of them separately at designated collection points.
  • The device is subject to European Directive 2012/19/EU (WEEE) and should be disposed of via an officially approved waste disposal company, not as normal domestic waste.
