The FortiRPS 100 redundant power supply unit supports up to four Fortinet devices.
For units that require more current, such as the FortiGate 200B or FortiDDoS 400B, two
devices can be connected.
Note: Each AC power cable should be connected to a different power source.
Caution: Do not connect a device to a DC port on the RPS while that port is powered.
For units that require 11.5A or less:
1. Find the DC cable end that has two 2x5 DC connectors and insert one connector
into one of the DC outputs on the FortiRPS device.
2. Connect the other end of the DC cable to the device using the 2x5 connector.
3. Connect one of the provided AC power cables to the FortiRPS unit’s AC power
connection that correspond to the DC output that is being used.
4. If you are connecting multiple devices to the FortiRPS and using DC outputs 1 and 2,
connect the second AC power cable to the FortiRPS device as well.
5. Plug the AC power cables into grounded electrical outlets or separate power
sources, such as uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) or power distribution units
(PDU), then turn on both power switches on the back of the FortiRPS unit.
For units that require more than 11.5A:
1. Find the DC cable end that has two 2x5 DC connectors. Insert the 2x5 connectors
into either both DC output 1 or DC output 2 interfaces on the FortiRPS device.
2. Connect the 2x7 or 2x5 connector to the device.
3. Connect the provided AC power cables to both the FortiRPS unit’s AC power
connections.
4. Plug the AC power cables into seperate, grounded electrical outlets or power
sources, such as uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) or power distribution units
(PDU), then turn on both power switches on the back of the FortiRPS unit.
Caution: Please consult a licensed electrician prior to connecting this product to a
DC power supply source. Hiring a licensed electrician to perform all connections is
recommended.
Caution: Consideration must be given to the connection of equipment to the supply
circuit, and the effect that overloading the circuits might have on overcurrent protection
and supply wiring. Appropriate consideration of equipment nameplate ratings should be
used when addressing this concern.
Note: Reliable earthing of rack-mounted equipment should be maintained. Particular
attention should be given to supply connections other than direct connections to the
branch circuit, such as through a power strip.
