Function Description
The Fortis 27.5" Hybrid Commuter Electric Mountain Bike is an electric power-assisted cycle (EPAC) designed for commuting and general riding. It adheres to the EN 15194 EU standard, meaning motor assistance is provided only when the cyclist pedals, cuts out when pedaling stops, and ceases when the speed exceeds 25 km/h. This allows the e-bike to be used in the same conditions as any other bicycle, including on bicycle paths and specific lanes. The bike combines features of a hybrid commuter bike with electric mountain bike capabilities, making it versatile for various terrains and uses. It includes a pedal-assist system (PAS) with multiple assistance levels and a "walk mode" for easier maneuvering when dismounted.

Usage Features
The bike is equipped with a display and control pad for managing its electric functions.
Control Pad:
- A button: Increases assistance level, turns headlight on (press and hold for 2 seconds), turns headlight off (short press).
- B button: Turns bike on (press and hold for 2 seconds), turns bike off (short press), cycles through display functions (TRIP/ODO/TIME/VOL/CUR/ERROR CODE).
- C button: Decreases assistance level, enters walk mode (press and hold for 2 seconds when stationary).
Instrument Display:
- Speed Mode: Displays current (CUR), maximum (MAX), or average (AVG) speed. Switch by pressing A+B buttons together.
- Speed Display: Shows current speed in Km/h.
- Battery Level Indicator: Visual representation of battery charge (100%, 80%, 50%, 25%, 15%, 0%). A single flashing bar indicates critically low power.
- Highlight Indicator: Indicates headlight status.
- Walk Mode: Activates a low-speed assist (less than 6 km/h) for pushing the bike.
- Pedal Assistance (PAS) Level: Shows current assistance level (0-5). Level 0 provides no motor assistance.
- Multifunction Indicator: Displays various data:
- TRIP: Current trip distance.
- ODO: Total odometer reading.
- TIME: Current trip time.
- VOL: Battery voltage.
- CUR: Battery current.
- ERROR CODE: Displays error codes in case of malfunction (e.g., E05 for battery under voltage, E01 for motor failure, E03 for controller failure, E06/E07 for communication failures).
Settings Menu:
Accessed by pressing and holding A+C buttons. Allows adjustment of:
- Backlight Brightness: 1 (Darkest), 2 (Default), 3 (Brightest). Adjusted with A or B buttons.
- Mileage Unit: KM (default) or Miles. Adjusted with A (KM) or C (Miles) buttons.
- Odometer Reset: Reset by pressing and holding A button for 5 seconds.
Settings are saved and exited by pressing and holding A+C buttons, or automatically after 10 seconds of no user input.
Battery Power Switch: Located at the bottom of the bike frame. "-" position for ON, "O" position for OFF.
Charging:
- Connect the battery charger to the charging port on the bike and then to a power outlet.
- LED light on the charger is RED when charging, GREEN when fully charged.
- It is recommended to charge the battery in a room with a smoke detector, not in a bedroom, and in a well-ventilated area away from flames.
- Only use the supplied charger.
- Avoid overcharging (do not charge for more than 10 hours).
- Recharge before complete discharge to extend lifespan.
- For long-term storage, charge fully and recharge every 2 months.
- Do not use the battery to power other electrical devices.
Maintenance Features

Each Ride:
- Check tire pressure & condition.
- Perform visual inspection.
- Check brake lever pressure.
- Check quick releases.
- Verify handlebar alignment.
- Check saddle alignment.
- Ensure battery pack is locked.
Weekly:
- Inspect frame condition (check welds for fissures).
- Clean and lubricate chain.
- Check brake pads.
Monthly:
- Lubricate forks.
- Lubricate brakes & cables.
- Check all bolts and torque settings.
- Clean bicycle.

6 Monthly:

Yearly (or every 1000km):
- Replace brake pads (bike mechanic recommended).
- Replace brake cables (if necessary).
- Replace tires (if necessary).
- Check motor (bike mechanic recommended).
General Maintenance Advice:
- Use a damp cloth with neutral detergent to clean the bike frame. Avoid harsh detergents or high-pressure water jets, especially on electrical components.
- Regularly check for changes in component shape, color, or traces of rust. Replace affected components if found.
- Only use specific bicycle lubricants.
- If the rear tire has a puncture, disconnect the battery cable before removal.
- It is highly recommended to have the bike serviced by an authorized dealer at least once a year or every 1000km.
Battery Care:
- Charge the battery at least every 2 months when not in use.
- Store the battery in a dry place after recharging, avoiding extreme temperatures (-10°C to 35°C optimal).
- Do not store the battery in excessively hot or cold places.
- Do not half charge; adapt ride length to battery level for extended performance and lifespan.

Safety Warnings:
- Do not ride under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or drowsy medication.
- Pedal-assisted bicycles are not designed for two people or carrying additional passengers.

- Avoid over-lubrication, as oil on wheel rims, brake pads, or disks can reduce braking performance.

- Do not ride in deep water, use for jumps or stunts, or brake suddenly.
- Thoroughly check the bicycle before each ride.
- Wipe dry if left in heavy rain or snow.
- Ensure front and rear wheels are properly secured during assembly and before each ride to prevent loss of control.
- Do not touch the brake rotor with bare skin during assembly; wear clean gloves.
- Ensure pedals are installed correctly, as left and right pedals have opposite threads. Cross-threading causes irreparable damage.
- Ensure the seat post's minimum insertion mark is not visible above the seat clamp.
