1. ハウジング
材質：水目桜
日本特産、樺 ( カバノキ ) の一品種。肌目
が緻密で堅く、表面が美しく仕上がること
から家具の製造などに適した高級木材を使
用。TH900mk2 専用に熟練職人が手作業
にて加工しています。
仕上げ：漆ボルドー仕上げ
表面の仕上げは、創業 1900 年 ( 明治 33 年 )
で日本の伝統工芸を今日の工業製品に活か
す｢株式会社 坂本乙造商店｣が独自に開発
した漆工芸で行われます。使われている漆
は、ベースとなる黒漆と箔貼用の接着漆。
格調高い奥行き感を表現するために硫黄で
いぶした何種類もの色銀箔をちぎり絵の様
に貼りこんでいます。FOSTEX LOGO はプ
ラチナ箔貼り。
2. ヘッドホン・ケーブル
TH900mk2 専用に開発された 7N-OFC 使用
のケーブルを採用することで、低音域を豊
かに延ばしました。プラグ・スリーブには
ジュラルミンを採用し、耐久性を高めてい
ます。また、着脱式コネクタ端子とヘッド
ホン本体側着脱部接点端子には、硬度が高
く耐摩耗性、耐食性に優れたロジウムメッ
キ処理を施しています。
1. Housing
Material: Betula grossa (Known as Japanese
Cherry Birch) - The tree is Japanese specialty
and its texture is rigid and dense. It is prized as
a fine wood for furniture production.
Finish: Bordeaux -The TH900mk2 housings
are processed with the unique lacquer tech-
niques developed by a group of artisans whose
name is Sakamoto Urushi Manufacturing Co.,
Ltd., founded in 1900. The housings use the
traditional art of urushi lacquer (known as Japa-
nese traditional craft). This exclusive lacquer
finish not only gives the headphone housings
an elegant and sophisticated visual aspect, but
also it improves the housings’ durability. The
process requires various meticulous steps.
Many different types of sulfur smoked silver
foils are adhered on a black-lacquered base,
like creating a torn paper collage, and then
finished with a rich Bordeaux-wine color paint
as the overcoat. Platinum leaves are used for
the Fostex brand logos.
2. Headphone Cables
Thick 7N-OFC cables are exclusively manufac-
tured for the TH900mk2 that enhances low
frequency reproduction. The plug case is made
of duralumin that promises high durability. A
highly hard, wear-resistant and corrosive-resis-
tant rhodium plating is applied at the removable
connector terminal as well as the main unit
removable section contact terminal.
