  Several factors can cause your Franklin Water Treatment Water Dispenser to not use salt. First, ensure the softener is receiving uninterrupted power and that the bypass valve is in the 'Service' position. Check that there is salt in the brine tank, and if the salt has formed a bridge, you can try breaking it up by hitting the side of the tank with a rubber mallet. Also, inspect the DLFC Assembly, BLFC Assembly, injector, and injector screen for any debris. Make sure that the meter cable (grey cable, 3 pins) is connected to the control valve circuit board connector J2 (labeled “METER”). Finally, review the control valve programming to ensure it's correct for your system.

  If the brine tank of your Franklin Water Treatment Water Dispenser is overfilling, start by checking the brine line for any loose nuts and tighten them. Ensure the brine line is correctly inserted into the safety brine valve, not the brine tank overflow fitting. Also, verify that the softener drain line isn't connected to the brine overflow elbow or drain line. Inspect the DLFC Assembly, BLFC Assembly, injector, and injector screen for any obstructions. Clean out the brine tank. Check that the brine line flow control button is not missing and that the piston brine stem is not missing. Finally, manually put softener into Backwash Cycle and unplug the transformer for 30 minutes to dislodge debris from inside the control valve or disassemble and clean control valve internal components.
