Description
The SH-5 Router Table Fence has a two piece split aluminum fence guide with a router bit gap
adjustment system. The precision micro-adjustment split fence system allows jointing without the
use of shims. The fence also features an aluminum cast alloy body with dust collection duct (2-3/8"
diam.) and a plexiglass safety front guard. Threaded Insert Nuts (4 pcs - 5/16" - 18 x .984" ) are
included to mount the fence.
SH-5 Router Table Fence Setting
Two types of alignment scales are provided on the fence. The knobs are marked at each .001" and
one full revolution of the knob will result in .050" travel of the fence. Numbers are also provided
to indicate 0", .005", .010", etc. The rods to which the fences are attached are marked with linear
scales and these are divided into .050" with an indicator for 0 midway of the scale. Before checking
the settings or making any adjustments, ensure that the router is powered off and unplugged and
that there is no router bit in the router. When all scales are reading 0, the infeed fence should be
aligned with the outfeed fence. This must be verified using a straight edge before using the fence
and if any variance is found, refer to the instructions below for calibrating the fence. If both knobs
are turned an equal amount the fences will stay in alignment. To use for "jointer" type setups, the
outfeed fence knob is turned separately the desired distance.
SH-5 Router Table Fence Calibration
The SH-5 Router Table Fence is manufactured to precise tolerances. However, due to variances in
the materials used for the fence faces, some minor calibration of the dials may be necessary. The
steps below detail the steps required to ensure accurate setting of the fence.
1. Ensure that the router is powered off and unplugged and that there is no router bit
in the router.
2. Rotate dials to align all scales to 0.
3. Hold a straight edge against both fences and rotate one dial until fences are
aligned.
4. Tighten the locking screws.
5. Loosen the setscrew of the dial and rotate to 0.
6. Tighten the setscrew and recheck with the straight edge.
7. Readjust if necessary.
Decimal Adjustments
The markings on the micro-adjustment knob are each .001”.
One full revolution of the knob = .050”.
