Working w ith the notebook
Using the power-management features
PowerPowerBattery
The notebook uses less power when the available power-management features are used. You
will then be able to work longer when using the battery before having to recharge it.
Power efciency is increased and environmental pollution reduced. By
choosing the best power options, y ou can make signica nt savings and
at the same time help protect th e environment.
When you close the LCD screen, depending on the s etting in Window s, the
notebook au tomatically enters a powe r saving mode.
Select the power management functions in your Control Panel.
If you need further information about an option, you can get help about most settings
by pressing the key combina tion

to show the Microsoft help.
When the notebook i
s in power-saving mode , the following must be remembered:
During power-savi
ng mode, open data is held in main memory or in a swap le on the le.
Never turn off you
r notebook while it is in a power saving mode. If the built-in battery is
nearly empty, cl
ose the open les and do not go into power saving mode.
If you do not intend to use your notebook for a long period of time:
Exit power savi
ng mode if necessary via the mouse or keyboard or by switching on th e
notebook.
Close all op ened programs and completely shut down the notebook.
Adjusting system p erformance in Micros oft Windows
Your system
is supplied with an optimally adjusted b alance between system
performanc
e, fan noise and battery life.

: If required, you can change the s ystem performance in mains operation
or in ba tte
ry operation separately by s electing the battery icon in the Windows
taskbar wi
th the Windows Performance Power Slider.
Windows 1
1: You c an adjust the "Power Mode" after right-clicking on the
battery
icon in the corresponding menu.
Maximum
system p erformance increases fan noise and reduces battery life.
Maximum battery life limits system performance.
