W
arning! If the cutting chain tension is too slack the
cutting chain could jump off the guide bar causing
injury.
If the cutting chain tension is too tight excessive wear
will take place on the guide bar and the cutting chain
c
ould snap causing injury.
The tension in the chain has a major effect on the
s
ervice life of the cutting fittings, and must therefore
be checked regularly. When the chain warms up to
operating temperature it will expand and must be
r
etightened. A new saw chain will have to be
t
ightened more frequently until it has reached its full
length.
FILLING THE OIL RESERVOIR
Warning! Never work without chain lubricant. If the
saw chain is running without lubricant, guide bar and
saw chain can be damaged. It is therefore essential to
check the oil level in the oil level gauge frequently and
every time before starting to use the chain saw.
CHAIN LUBRICANT
Proper lubrication of the chain while in operation
reduces the friction between the chain and the guide
bar and assures a longer tool life. Use only special
chain oil of a high quality for this purpose.
Do not use any waste or reclaimed oil as this could
cause various problems with the oil pump.
SAW CHAIN / BAR LUBRICATION
Adequate lubrication of the saw chain is essential at
all times to minimize friction with the guide bar.
Never starve the bar and chain of oil. Running the saw
with too little oil will decrease cutting efficiency,
shorten saw chain life, cause rapid dulling of chain,
and cause excessive wear of bar from overheating.
Too little oil is evidenced by smoke, bar
discolouration or pitch build-up. New chains/bars
should be lubricated by hand before starting.
Please use only chainsaw oil, i.e. oil which is 100%
biodegradable.
Biodegradable chainsaw oil should be available
everywhere at your local specialist dealer.
Do not use old oil. This will damage the chainsaw and
will also lead to loss of the guarantee.
Before filling the oil tank, ensure that the chainsaw is
switched off and the battery cartridges are removed.
Remove the oil filler cap (Fig.7) (7.1) and place safely
aside so that the sealing ring in the tank cap does not
get lost. Fill approx 150ml of oil into the tank using a
funnel and screw on the oil filler cap tightly once
more. Wipe away any spillage.
It is possible to check the oil level at the oil level
indicator (Fig.7) (7.2). The oil level must never fall
below the minimum level indicator.
Do not allow sawdust or wood debris into the oil
reservoir, this will clog the lubrication system.
I
f you do not intend to use the machine for an
extended period, please empty the oil tank of chain
oil.
The oil tank should also be emptied before the
chainsaw is transported or sent for repair.
CHECKING THE LUBRICATION SYSTEM
To check that the lubrication system is working, run
t
he chainsaw while holding the guide bar above some
paper. A steadily increasing stain caused by oil spray
shows that the lubrication system is working. If there
i
s no oil stain check and clean the lubrication system
b
efore using the chainsaw. The chainsaw must never
be run without the oilier in full working condition.
INSTALLING AND REMOVING BATTERY PACK
Warning! Always remove the battery packs from your
tool when you are assembling parts, making
adjustments, cleaning, carrying, transporting or when
not in use. Removing the battery packs will prevent
accidental starting that could cause serious personal
injury.
Slide a battery pack into one of the slots until it clicks
into place, Fig.8. (Note the battery has raised ribs
which allows it to fit into the machine only one way).
Repeat this procedure for the second battery.
When both batteries are installed correctly a indicator
light will illuminate on top of the chainsaw.
To remove the battery, press the battery release
button, and pull the battery pack out of the slot.
NOTE: The tool does not work with only one battery
cartridge.
OPERATION
SWITCHING ON
Make sure the chain brake is in the run position by
pulling back on the chain brake lever/hand guard,
Fig.9.
Hold the saw securely with both hands so that the
thumbs and fingers are wrapped around the handle of
the chain saw.
Press with your thumb the safety lock button, Fig.10
(A) on the left side of the rear handle and then the
on/off trigger, Fig.10 (B).
The safety lock button is used for unlocking the
switch-on mechanism and does not need to be
pressed again after the device is switched on.
To switch off the device, release the on/off trigger.
Warning! The sawing chain will start running at high
speed immediately. When putting the saw down,
make sure that the chain never touches stones or
metal objects.
