This document is a user manual for Galaxy Electric Countertop Food Warmers and Cookers, specifically models 177GW50E and 177GWC50E. These units are designed for commercial foodservice use, intended for holding preheated food products at safe temperatures. They are not designed for cooking food from raw or cold states, but rather for maintaining the temperature of already cooked food. The manual emphasizes that these units should only be operated by trained personnel.
Function Description:
The Galaxy Electric Countertop Food Warmers and Cookers are commercial appliances designed to keep preheated food at safe serving temperatures. The 177GW50E model functions as a warmer, while the 177GWC50E model serves as both a warmer and a cooker. Both models feature a full-size 12" x 20" well, accommodating standard steam table pans up to 4" deep. The units operate by heating water in the well, which then transfers heat to the food pans. The 177GW50E has a temperature range of 80-160°F, suitable for warming, while the 177GWC50E offers a broader range of 120-212°F, allowing for both warming and cooking functionalities.

- Certifications: UL and NSF listed, indicating compliance with safety and sanitation standards.
- Construction: The units feature a well, heating elements, a dissipator plate, and a body, with a bottom cover. Control is managed via a thermostat and a knob, with a pilot light indicating operation.
Usage Features:
- Indoor Use Only: The units are not weatherproof and must be located indoors where ambient air temperature is a minimum of 70°F (21°C).
- Preheating: It is recommended to preheat the unit for up to 25 minutes. Covering the well with a steam table pan can accelerate preheating. Initial heating may produce smoke or fumes, requiring operation in a well-ventilated area until dissipated.
- Water Level: Users must fill the well with warm/hot water up to the "MAX" fill line, but not below the "MIN" fill line. Failure to maintain proper water level can lead to lower performance or even burnout.
- Food Placement: Pre-cooked food products should be placed directly in stainless steel drawer pans or compatible food pans up to 4" deep. Food should never be held below 150°F (66°C).
- Temperature Control: A dial control allows users to set the desired heat intensity.
- Safety Precautions:
- Always ensure the unit is properly grounded.
- Do not use extension cords.
- Do not store or use flammable vapors or liquids near the appliance.
- Exercise caution when removing steam table pans, as hot air will escape.
- Some exterior surfaces will get hot, posing a burn hazard.
- Do not place arms, hands, or other objects not intended for heating in the well.
- Never pour cold water into wells; always use warm or hot water.
- Do not cook, warm, or hold food directly in the liner pans (well pans); always use steam table pans/insets.
- Locate the unit on a solid, level surface strong enough to support its weight and contents, at least 1" (25 mm) from combustible walls and materials to prevent discoloration or combustion.
Maintenance Features:
- Daily Cleaning: The unit should be cleaned thoroughly before first use and daily thereafter.
- Cleaning Procedure:
- Turn off the power switch, unplug the power cord, or turn off power at the circuit breaker.
- Allow the unit to cool before cleaning.
- Use warm, soapy water and mild cleansers. Plastic scouring pads may be used for baked-on food and water scale.
- NEVER immerse the unit in water. It is not waterproof.
- Do not steam clean or use excessive water.
- Do not use "jet-clean" sprays.
- Do not use harsh chemicals such as bleach, oven cleaners, or flammable cleaning solutions.
- Remove inset pans and wash them thoroughly in a sink or dishwasher.
- Removing Lime and Mineral Deposits:
- Turn off and cool the unit.
- Remove and empty the water pan.
- Fill the water pan with a mixture of 75% water and 25% white vinegar, covering the deposits.
- Install the pan with the deliming solution into the unit.
- Plug in and turn on the unit for 30 minutes.
- Turn off and unplug the unit.
- Allow the water pan with the solution to stand for at least two hours (time may vary).
- Remove and empty the deliming solution.
- Rinse the water pan with clean water until clean.
- Install the clean water pan and refill with 1/4" of water for daily operation.
- Repeat the procedure if deposits remain, increasing the standing time of the de-liming mixture.
- Troubleshooting: The manual provides a troubleshooting guide for common issues such as the unit being too hot, not hot enough, or not working at all, offering potential causes and solutions (e.g., adjusting temperature, checking water level, resetting circuit breaker, or contacting an authorized electrician).
- Service: Discontinue use if the power cord is frayed or worn. Service must be performed by qualified personnel only to avoid electric shock or burns.
The manual also includes detailed parts lists and diagrams for both the 177GW50E and 177GWC50E models, facilitating identification of components for maintenance or repair. A limited warranty covers defects in material and workmanship for 30 days from the date of purchase, with specific instructions for making a warranty claim. The warranty excludes issues arising from improper installation, maintenance, misuse, or use outside the Continental United States, among others.
