Overview

The GALLUNOPTIMAL Sprint150 is a soldering iron designed for soldering soft solder with various temperature settings. It is intended for indoor use in dry environments.

Function Description

The device features temperature control, allowing users to adjust the soldering tip's heat to suit different soldering tasks. It incorporates an auto-standby function that activates after 10 minutes of inactivity and a sleep mode after 20 minutes, contributing to energy efficiency and safety. The heating element is a ceramic PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient) type, which is 3-pole and grounded, ensuring stable and reliable heating. Temperature adjustments are made directly on the soldering iron using dedicated buttons, and the device features an ergonomic handle for comfortable use.

Upon switching on, the soldering tip automatically heats up to the last set temperature. The device is designed to be used with various soldering tips, including knife shape, needle-sharp, pencil point, chisel form, and bevelled tips, catering to a wide range of precision and general soldering applications.

  • Temperature Range: 80-480°C (176-896°F)
  • Temperature Stability: +/-2°C
  • Heater Type: PTC (Ceramic)
  • Heating Indication: LED
  • Temperature Unit: °C/°F (selectable)
  • Display: LCD
  • Casing: Stainless steel outer casing
  • Temperature Presets: 9 different temperature setting ranges are available, including 250°C/482°F, 300°C/572°F, 325°C/617°F, 350°C/662°F, 375°C/707°F, 400°C/752°F, 425°C/797°F, 450°C/842°F, and 480°C/896°F.

Usage Features

The Sprint150 offers several user-friendly features:

  • Power On: To operate, plug the power cable into a socket and press the Power button on the soldering iron.
  • Temperature Adjustment: Use the +/- keys to select from 9 different temperature settings. Short presses adjust the temperature by 1°K, while long presses enable fast changes.

    • Change Temperatur: Adjusts the target temperature.
    • Temperature Compensation: Allows for fine-tuning of the temperature, with a range of +/-50°C/90°F.
    • Temperature Unit: Switches between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F).
    • Standby: Toggles the standby function (1=on, 0=off).
  • Visual Indicators: When the soldering iron is heating, the power light flashes, and its brightness changes according to the power level. The selected gear light remains on.
  • Ergonomic Design: The soldering iron features an ergonomic handle for comfortable and prolonged use.
  • Safety Features: The auto-standby and sleep modes contribute to safety by reducing the risk of overheating when the device is not actively in use.

Maintenance Features

The manual provides information regarding potential error messages and their implications, which can aid in troubleshooting and maintenance:

  • H-E Error: If the soldering iron does not heat and displays "H-E," it indicates a defective heating element.
  • S-E Error: If "S-E" is displayed, it means the sensor or the control unit is defective.

It is important to note that the soldering iron is tested before leaving the factory, so a small amount of tin on the tip and slight yellowing of the casing are considered normal phenomena.

Safety Precautions for Maintenance and Use:

  • Always allow heated parts to reach room temperature before touching them or attempting to change parts after switching off the device.
  • Do not leave the appliance unattended while it is switched on.
  • Avoid touching metal parts of the tools during operation and immediately after switching off due to the danger of burns.
  • Do not use the device near flammable materials or components.
  • Use a heat-resistant work surface and keep the workplace clean.
  • Ensure adequate ventilation when soldering, as solders, fluxes, and heated materials can produce harmful vapours.
  • Protect the device from liquids and moisture to prevent short circuits and electric shocks.

The device is designed for professional use and adherence to safety guidelines is crucial for preventing serious injury or death.
