Overview

The Garden Gear Cantilever Parasol (models G3753, G3754, G3755, G3756, G3757) is a free-standing garden parasol designed to provide instant shade from the sun. It features a simple-to-use crank mechanism for opening and closing the canopy, and a locking handle to adjust the canopy's angle and position.

Function Description:

The primary function of this cantilever parasol is to offer shade in various outdoor settings. Being free-standing, it can be positioned anywhere in the garden, on decking, patio areas, or level grassed areas, provided it is adequately weighted down. The crank mechanism allows for easy deployment and retraction of the canopy, while the locking handle enables users to set the desired height and angle of the parasol.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Diameter of open parasol: 270cm
  • Height of parasol from tip to ground level: 245cm
  • Main pole material: Aluminium
  • Ribs (x6) material: Steel
  • Parasol material: 100% Polyester

Contents of the Box:

The package includes:

  • 1x Upper pole, which incorporates the parasol with its crank arm, and the locking and positioning handle.
  • 2x Base cross sections (labeled A & B) for forming the base structure.
  • 1x Parasol support (labeled D).
  • 1x Securing Knob (labeled C).
  • 4x Screws and washers (labeled F & G) for assembly.
  • 1x Wrench (labeled H) for tightening fasteners.
  • 1x Parasol canopy (labeled E).
  • 1x Instruction manual.
  • Note: Some smaller parts like screws, washers, and the wrench may be taped to the inside of the box.

Usage Features:

Safety Instructions:

  • Level Ground: Always ensure the stand is on level ground before attempting to erect the parasol.
  • Weighting the Base: Due to its cantilever design, the parasol requires a weighted base to prevent tipping. This can be achieved using:
    • Purposely designed parasol base: These bases can be filled with water and/or sand. Using both water and sand is recommended to maximize weight and stability. Garden Gear offers a suitable base (item code G2307) available online.
    • Paving slabs: A minimum of four paving slabs with a combined weight exceeding 50kg (110lbs) should be used.
    • Suitable screws and fastenings: For permanent installation on surfaces like concrete, cement, or wooden decking, consult a professional to determine the appropriate screws and fastenings.
  • Locking Handle: Ensure the locking handle is securely engaged against the pole at the desired angle before opening the parasol.
  • Children's Safety: Never allow children to play with the parasol, and never leave them unattended when it is in use.
  • Structural Integrity: Do not attempt to remove the parasol from its frame.
  • Windy Conditions: Always lower the canopy in windy conditions to prevent damage or instability.
  • Periodic Checks: Regularly check that the chosen support base method (water-filled base, paving slabs, bolts, etc.) remains secure and in the correct position.

Assembly Instructions:

  1. Unpack all items and verify against the contents list.
  2. Position the two base cross sections (A & B) as shown in the diagram, forming a cross shape.
  3. Place the parasol support (D) onto the assembled base cross sections.
  4. Secure the parasol support (D) to the base using the four screws and washers (F & G) provided, tightening with the wrench (H).
  5. Ensure the securing knob (C) is fully unscrewed from the parasol support (D) to allow for the full insertion of the main pole.
  6. Insert the main pole, complete with the canopy (E), into the parasol support (D).
  7. Place the securing knob (C) into the hole near the top of the stand (D) and turn it clockwise to secure the main pole in place.

Raising the Parasol:

  1. Locate the locking handle on the side of the main pole.
  2. Unlock the handle by pulling it away from the pole.
  3. Push the handle up the pole until the parasol reaches the desired height. The canopy will move away from the pole during this action.
  4. Push the locking handle back towards the pole to secure the parasol at the chosen height.
  5. Slide the securing collar into place to fix the support arm.
  6. Wind the crank in a clockwise direction (following the arrows on the crank) to open the canopy.
  7. Use the locking handle to adjust the canopy to your required position.

Lowering the Parasol:

  1. Close the canopy by winding the crank in an anti-clockwise direction (following the arrows on the crank).
  2. Locate the locking handle on the side of the main pole.
  3. Unlock the handle by pulling it away from the pole.
  4. Slide the securing collar upwards to allow the support arm to move freely.
  5. Allow the handle to slide down the pole until the parasol returns to its side.
  6. Push the locking handle back towards the pole to lock the parasol in place.
  7. If using a cover, slide it over the top of the parasol and secure it with the pull string.

Maintenance Features:

The manual does not explicitly detail maintenance features beyond the safety instruction to periodically check the base's security. However, the 100% polyester canopy material suggests it is designed for outdoor use and likely offers some resistance to weather elements. For long-term care, covering the parasol when not in use, especially during adverse weather, is recommended.

Warranty and After-Sales Support:
