Overview

The GARDENA Water Timer Electronic T 14 e (Art. 1820) is designed for automated watering in domestic and hobby gardens. It allows users to set different watering cycles and times, making it suitable for controlling sprinklers, sprinkler system installations, or drip-head watering systems. The device operates automatically according to the chosen program, enabling watering early in the morning, late at night when evaporation is minimal, or while the user is away on holiday.

Function Description:

The Water Timer Electronic T 14 e automates garden watering based on user-defined programs. It features a control unit with a display for programming and monitoring. The device connects directly to a tap and can be integrated with optional accessories like a Soil Moisture Sensor (Art. No. 1187) or a Rain Sensor (Art. No. 1189) to optimize watering based on environmental conditions. When a sensor is connected, the watering program can be interrupted or not initiated if sufficient soil moisture or rain is detected, preventing overwatering. Manual watering is also possible, independent of the programmed data, for a duration of 30 minutes.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Operating pressure: 1–12 bar
  • Flow medium: Clean fresh water
  • Max. water temperature: 40 °C
  • Watering cycles: 14 pre-defined programs, ranging from 4 times daily to once every 7 days.
  • Battery: 1 x 9 V alkali-manganese (alkaline) type IEC 6LR61
  • Service life of the battery: Approximately 1 year
  • Minimum water output: 20–30 l/h for correct function.
  • Tap connection: Fitted with a sleeve nut for taps with a 33.3 mm (G1) thread. An adaptor for G 3/4 thread (26.5 mm) is supplied.

Usage Features:

  • Programming: The device allows users to set the current time, a starting time for watering, and select from 14 pre-defined watering programs. Programming is done via the control unit using "O.K." and "man." keys. The "O.K." key moves through program stages and confirms entries, while the "man." key is used to adjust individual data (hours, minutes) and manually switch watering on/off.
  • Display: An LCD display shows the current time, starting time, selected program number, and status indicators ("On" for active watering, "Off" for inactive). During programming, the corresponding display flashes. A "Batt." indicator appears when the battery voltage is low.
  • Detachable Control Unit: The control unit can be removed from the main housing, allowing users to program the Water Timer in a convenient location away from the tap.
  • Manual On/Off: Watering can be manually activated or deactivated at any time by pressing the "man." key. Manual watering runs for a maximum of 30 minutes.
  • Anti-Theft Protection (Optional): The GARDENA anti-theft protection (Art. No. 1815-00.791.00) can be fitted to the back of the unit, allowing for attachment of a chain to secure the device.
  • Sensor Integration (Optional):
    • Soil Moisture Sensor: Connects to the control unit to interrupt or prevent watering if the soil has sufficient moisture.
    • Rain Sensor: Connects to the control unit to interrupt or prevent watering if an appropriate amount of rain has fallen.
  • Error Handling: The device provides indicators for low battery ("Batt.") and can be tested for battery functionality by pressing the "On/Off-man." key twice. Troubleshooting tips are provided for issues like inability to open the Water Timer, watering not initiating, or short battery life.

Maintenance Features:

  • Battery Replacement: The Water Timer requires one 9 V alkali-manganese battery (type IEC 6LR61). The battery compartment is located within the control unit. When replacing the battery, previously set data is lost, requiring reprogramming.
  • Filter Cleaning: The filter in the sleeve nut should be checked regularly and cleaned if necessary to ensure proper function.
  • Frost Protection: The Water Timer must be stored in a dry place away from frost before the frosty season begins to prevent damage.
  • Mounting Position: To prevent water from penetrating the battery compartment, the Water Timer must only be mounted in a perpendicular position with the sleeve nut pointing upwards.
  • Water Quality: Only clean fresh water should be used as the flow medium.
  • Programming with Tap Off: It is recommended to program the Water Timer with the tap turned off to avoid getting wet when testing the manual On/Off function.

The GARDENA Water Timer Electronic T 14 e is intended for private use in domestic and hobby gardens and must not be used for industrial purposes or with chemicals, foodstuffs, or easily flammable/explosive materials. It is designed exclusively for outdoor use.
