GPSMAP® 64s GSAR Configuration Standard
1. Insert two AA batteries, observing polarity and power on. Update firmware as necessary.
2. Press “page” select “main menu”, press “enter”, select “setup”, press “enter”, select “system” press
“enter”
Satellite System – GPS (turn off Glonass to save battery life)
WAAS/EGNOS
On
Language – English
Interface – Garmin Serial
AA Battery Type – Alkaline (this enables correct battery condition display indicator for battery
type)
3. Press “page”> main menu > “setup”, press “enter” and scroll to “display” and press enter
Backlight Timeout – 1 minute
Battery Save – on
Colors – Mode and Setup
Main, Setup Find Style – Grid (6 items)
Screen Capture – off
4. Select “page” > “trip computer”, press “menu” and choose “reset”. Press “enter”
Reset Trip Data (press “enter” and choose “yes”)
Delete All Waypoints (as above)
Clear Current Track (as above)
Clear Track and Trip Data (reset both)
DO NOT SELECT “RESET ALL SETTINGS” - (This will factory reset the unit)
5. Press “page”, select “main menu” then scroll to “ profile change” and press “enter”. Choose
“recreational”
6. Press “page”, select “main menu” then choose “setup”, press “enter” > “tracks”, press “enter”
Track log - record, show on map
Record Method – Auto
Recording Interval – Normal
Auto Archive – When Full
Color – Blue (press “enter” to choose color)
7. Press “quit” twice to get back to “setup”. Press enter and choose “position format”, press “enter”
Position Format – UTM UPS (press “enter” and scroll to “UTM UPS”)
Map Datum – NAD 83 (press “enter” and scroll to “NAD 83”)
Map Spheroid – defaults to GRS 80
8. Press “page” > “main menu” > “setup” then scroll to “units” and press “enter”
Distance and Speed – Metric (press “enter” and scroll to choose)
Elevation – m/min
Depth – Meters
Temperature – Celsius
