Overview

The GASTROBACK DESIGN EGGBOILER (Art.-Nr. 42801) is a versatile kitchen appliance designed for cooking and poaching eggs, making omelettes, and steaming vegetables. It features a sleek design and user-friendly operation, making it a convenient addition to any household.

Function Description:

The primary function of the GASTROBACK DESIGN EGGBOILER is to cook eggs to various consistencies, from soft-boiled to hard-boiled. It achieves this by boiling water in its heating base, generating steam that cooks the eggs or other food items placed in the trays above. The appliance also includes steaming trays, expanding its functionality to prepare poached eggs, omelettes, and a variety of steamed vegetables. An acoustic signal indicates when the cooking process is complete, ensuring perfectly cooked food every time.

Important Technical Specifications:

While specific power consumption figures are not provided, the appliance operates on a standard mains power supply of 230 V, 50 Hz, AC. It is recommended to connect it directly to a wall socket with a properly connected protective conductor (earth/ground). The installation of a current safety switch with a maximum rated operating of 30 mA in the electrical circuit is also recommended for enhanced safety. The egg boiler can accommodate up to 7 eggs at one time. The water heating base features a non-stick, easy-clean surface.

Usage Features:

The GASTROBACK DESIGN EGGBOILER is designed for ease of use.

  • Preparation: Before first use or after prolonged storage, all removable parts should be cleaned. The steamer base should be placed on a stable, even, dry, water-resistant, and heat-resistant surface, maintaining at least 20 cm of free space on each side and 1 m above the appliance during operation to prevent damage from steam and condensate.
  • Water Measurement: A measuring cup with a scale and an integrated egg piercer is provided. The water level in the measuring cup depends on the number of eggs and desired hardness. For hard-boiled eggs, the water amounts range from 100 ml for 1 egg down to 40 ml for 7 eggs. For soft-boiled eggs, the amounts range from 55 ml for 1 egg down to 25 ml for 7 eggs. For poaching/omelettes and steaming vegetables, the measuring cup should be filled to the 'medium number 1' level. More water can be added during operation to increase cooking time.
  • Egg Piercing: The blunt end of each egg should be pierced using the needle on the underside of the measuring cup base. This prevents the eggshell from cracking during boiling.
  • Assembly: The measured water is poured onto the heating base. The egg tray, which holds up to 7 eggs, is then placed on the steamer base, ensuring it fits without gaps and does not tilt. For poaching or steaming, the steaming trays are placed onto the egg tray. It is crucial never to place the steaming trays directly on the heating base. The lid, which features a steam vent, must be in place before operation.
  • Operation: The appliance is turned on using the On-/Off-switch with light control, which illuminates when active. The water will then be brought to a boil.
  • Acoustic Signal: A loud acoustic signal indicates when the eggs or vegetables are ready. The appliance does not switch off automatically; the user must press the On-/Off-switch to 'Off' to stop the signal and turn off the light control.
  • Safety during Operation: Users must be aware of hot surfaces, steam, and hot condensate during and after operation. Panholders or oven gloves are recommended when removing the lid, egg tray, or steamer trays. The appliance should not be moved or tilted during operation or while hot to prevent boiling water from spilling. Condensate should not drip onto the steamer base, and any spilled liquids should be wiped off immediately.
  • Cooling Eggs: Shortly quenching boiled eggs makes them easier to peel.

Maintenance Features:

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of the egg boiler.

  • Cleaning: Always unplug the appliance and allow it to cool down to room temperature before cleaning. The steamer base or power cord should never be immersed in water or any other liquid, placed in an automatic dishwasher, or under a tap. The container in the steamer base should be wiped with a damp soft cloth or sponge and then thoroughly dried. Removable parts, including the egg tray, steamer trays, measuring cup, and lid, can be cleaned in warm soapy water or an automatic dishwasher using a low-temperature program to prevent plastic deformation or discoloration.
  • Decalcifying: Regular decalcification of the heating base is recommended every 7-10 operations, depending on local water hardness, to maintain performance and energy efficiency. A mixture of 50 ml water and 50 ml vinegar or citric acid solution can be used. A cloth soaked in this solution can be placed on the heating base for about 10 minutes, or the mixture can be poured directly onto the heating plate. Ensure the appliance is turned 'Off,' unplugged, and cooled down before decalcifying. After decalcification, thoroughly wipe the heating base with a wet cloth to remove any decalcifier residue.
  • Avoid Abrasives: Do not use metal utensils, abrasive cleaners, cleaning pads, or sharp objects on any part of the appliance, especially plastic surfaces, to prevent scratches or damage. Wooden or plastic utensils are recommended for stirring and serving food.
  • Storage: The appliance should be cleaned and dried before storage. It should be stored on a clean, dry surface, safe from frost, mechanical/electric shock, heat, moisture, and direct sunlight, and out of reach of children. The power cord should not be knotted, twisted, or squeezed. The egg tray, steamer trays, and lid can be placed on the steamer base for compact storage.

The GASTROBACK DESIGN EGGBOILER is designed for household use and is not intended for use in moving vehicles or outdoors. Any repairs or technical maintenance beyond what is described in the instructions should only be performed by an authorized service center. The manufacturer provides a 2-year warranty against manufacturing or material defects, provided the appliance has been used appropriately and without unauthorized technical interference.
